Rear AC/Heat vents shut off?

I would like to shut off the rear vents when they are not needed same as I can do with the front vents by turning the bottom part of the vent towards the X. My new born son sits in the back and he gets cold easily. I on the other hand am always hot. Can anyone tell me if there is a replacement vent that I can install so that I can shut off the back vents?

I have a laredo that has the round knobs to control the ac / heat. I do not have the digital climate control that the X package laredos, limiteds, and overlands have. I do have dual climate control I just can't control the rear vents.

I live in Hawaii so we rarely ever use the heat in our cars.

Re: Rear AC/Heat vents shut off?

The rear seat vents at the bottom of the console already have a shutoff control, at least on the Overland, but it must be standard. Look for the switch that can move up and down between the two vent outlets.

Re: Rear AC/Heat vents shut off?

Sup Cherodude,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I did not get the overland edition. I have a laredo. I have the same knob, but mine has a picture of a seated passenger. The picture above the knob in the middle shows an arrow towards the head of the seated passenger. The picture below below the knob has an arrow pointing towards the feet of the seated passenger.

Maybe there is a way that I can swap out a knob from an overland?

Re: Rear AC/Heat vents shut off?

@ Cherodude, I had never sat in the back before today. I let my wife drive and sat in the back with our newborn since he is sick. I didn't even think about trying the switch today when I was back there.

My wife kept complaining that the rear would not shut off. I just went to the garage and started up the jeep in mode that you can use everything without starting the engine. Sure enough you are right. When I switch the know to the feet position air does not come out of the vents.

Thanks !
