I'm having the same experience. The TSB made it better but not 100%. It's definitely better but I still feel a slight bump when accelerating from a stop. Drives me crazy.

I also just had the TSB done for this, mine was not too bad so hopefully it's gone. Does this do anything for the "fish bite" issue?

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Well, gotta take it for a drive(been out of town all week) wife reported its back again, and doing it more pulling away straight than before, when it mainly did it turning left...now its bad doing both!!, If its as bad as before, when the 3 people that drove it were like, "holy sh$t that's not good" at the dealership, not gonna be happy camper and its going back.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

My dealer (his chief mechanic) had another look at my GC and confirmed that TSB 21-003-13 was installed correctly. Since I have now had it for a while I can confirm that the bumps are not gone as I had hoped. But it is slightly different and probably better in most situations. Well, at least I can now use Sand mode without fear of getting swiched to 2WD.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

this is my third jeep.. Had 2 of them in the 90's. I felt the same bump. I feel it in the 14's. I believe it is 'normal'.. Ive also had 2 durangos in the 2000's -- they both had the rear shock suspension issue. Some things never go away. I think both are inherent design issues. I do know I had to have one durango shock replaced pretty early on...

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I'm not sure if it's the exact same issue, but I'm also feeling a bump in my 2014 Laredo when accelerating. I don't have the load leveling shocks or air suspension or anything like that.

It's not a huge deal, especially if this is normal operation as some here have said and no damage will come as a result of it. And it doesn't happen all the time. That said, for as nice and smooth as the vehicle otherwise rides, it definitely stands out and is noticeable and not very pleasant.

My layman's description of it would be, it's as if as you're coasting, whatever part puts power to the wheels is disconnected from the wheels or develops play; when the bump occurs after giving it gas, it's as if a connection is suddenly made and met with resistance, and as a result you have the bump feel and noise.

If I'm recalling correctly, it doesn't tend to happen from a standstill for me, instead usually only after giving it some gas while moving.

I don't think it's the transmission as a couple of times when it's happened, my eye has been on the current gear and it didn't change when the clunk/bump happened.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

My bump appears to be associated with a slip when I start off on a slippery surface, like wet grass.

Dealer told me it was 4 wheel drive engaging and normal. I believe him. Why? Last 2 jeeps I owned did the same thing. At a stop - go and accelerate - feel the bump.. Doesnt happen all the time - but certainly happens enough.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I had to laugh a little, I just caught up reading this post this morning. I'm currently in a rental 2014 Jeep Compass due to other issues with my WK2, and when driving to lunch I felt the same bump in the Compass (I too have felt it many times in my 2011 WK2). It was right after accelerating after slowing down at a left turn.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

so - seems like my issue is a read diff sensor and motor - it basically locks up the rear wheels when power is required on both... I dont believe the bump will be fixed after they do this work - i will advise if it does.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

So although ours seems abnormal in how hard it does it according to the service man, and the regional service guy, this is probably not going away. Through a weird turn of events, i saw an old friend in Detroit where i was working, and her husband worked on the design of the WK2...the company he works for worked on the design of the "underneath" stuff I guess. Long story short, he knew right away what i was talking about, said the TSB "ain't gonna fix it" and said it's actually part of the design kind of. Basically there is a little "bind and slack" built in, because of the blah blah blah engineer jargin I wasn't paying close attention once he said it wasn't going away ever, and that's what we feel. He said it should just be a little slight bump, and not the bowling ball rolling around my cargo bay ours feels like so mine definetely isn't right, especially having had the TSB already done.
He said he thinks the Quadra Drive and 8spd should be better than the 5spd uh 6spd(4spd with 2 extra 2nd gears?) and Quadra Trac II I currently have, recommending getting Quadra Drive next time, but it isn't going away in this Jeep. Thoughts?

Good info in this thread, thank you. I have a '14, 4x4 and no auto suspension thingy. Taking mine in today for the 'slipping while accelerating clunk' and other things. Maybe i'll have some good news to report back. But unfortunately, i too think they will tell me it is normal for the 4x4. I never have a loss of power so it's going to be hard to describe to them
