Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Well, the the jeep will be going back for this issue, the wife said if they can fix it ok, if not it goes. She actually said, i love the jeep(she picked it over X5, ML, Q7), i want the jeep just no bump as it's getting worse, left right, forward, even a rolling start then get on the gas it thumps, and now we have a vibration about 45ish and 62-65mph when you just ease on the gas in overdrive and dont make it down shift, the whole jeep feels like the tires are out of balance, and shakes until it downshifts, then it goes away. Makes me think I have bigger problems. I drove a '14 set up like mine, felt very smooth, the transmission made it seem like a different vehicle. Wifey said if she can get a jeep that doesn't thump and vibrate great, if they fix ours great, if not it's gone. Just so happens my dealer said he has 4 diesels on the way, 2 exactly like our set up just diesel instead of hemi. Looks like we're getting a diesel. Willing to give Jeep another try.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Experiencing this problem now at 50k miles. Literally appeared overnight. I think one (or more) of the clutch packs in the transfer case is failing or something. Looks like it's a new transfer case for me.

I'll have to ask the service manager what they ever found with the one we traded...or if they just sold it and will worry about it when that person brings it in. So far I notice in the diesel when turning and pulling away, what seems like a little drivetrain shutter, but I get that in my cummins sometimes, I think it's just so much torque down low and at slow speed. If this jeep gives us trouble, she has her eye on the new Escalade...yikes $$$$

Guys, a few days ago i've met accidentally the lawyer of jeep hellas. Surprisingly he owns one grand cherokee and one cherokee. I couldn't hepl it and i told him about this bump when accelerating etc ........he replied that he is well aware of this issue and jeep hellas had many claims from greek owners but only a couple of them got a compensation for this problem. Unfortunately this is a common problem and sooner or later at 30. 40, 50k kilometers the problem will appear. Jeep knows about this very well. Its the driveshaft bearings that they wear very fast (i guess due to bad quality) Unfortunately we all have to live with this problem since even if we replace the bearings it's only a matter of time for the problem to reappear. I don't even bother anymore

It's not a standard thing. It may be 3 or even 4 months of silence before you feel it again.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I have had the same sensation in my 2013 GC Limited. Very much feels driveline related almost like one of the back rear tyres is slippling momentarily then getting traction but with no real audible sounds. Only happens as has been described, once stopped then when accelerating off.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I brought my 2012 Overland Summit 5.7 into the dealer to have this issue diagnosed and they decided to order a new transfer case. We agree that it's in the transfer case; probably a failed clutch in the clutch pack.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Hi all
I too had a clunk shortly after take off the local bloke found the transfer case was the issue and it has been replaced under warranty. they were able to isolate the transfer case via the computer and this confirmed the clunk was caused by the transfer case new case been in about a week now and no more clunks.
