Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I'm noticing this clunk in my 2014. Overland, so I've got the load leveling suspension.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

A nice knowlegable Jeep Rep indicated to me that this TSB has been resubmitted by Jeep - most likely to correct for the pluthera of missing VIN's. So, I visited my Jeep Service Department this morning to make an appointment to have this TSB performed next Monday. I had the service writer run my VIN through DealerConnect to double-check that this TSB applies in the eyes of the service writer. I am glad to report back that it now in fact does! I am looking forward to getting this driveline bump issue resolved on Monday and enjoying my WK2 even more when I drive it!

When I saw TSB 21-003-13 I was excited to see what I thought was a fix. Sorry to say it apparently didn't work. The dealer performed flash update for DTCM from #56029423AJ to #56029243AK. This didn't work. Maybe #56029243AK was the wrong update? I have 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland V-6. Does anyone know if this is the correct update.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

I will have to have them check the TSB, but essentially they want to have me drop my jeep, and they are going to have the regional guy and some jeep people on the phone, and try anything up to and including tearing down the t-case for inspection...and go from there. Not overly encouraged by that

Rich wk2 thanks for your info, please let us know if you feel any difference.

My dealer had my car all week last week, one main issue being the TSB 21-003-13 driveline bump (I also have the binding when turning on steep slopes but I am mostly worried about the 4WD shifting into 2WD when 4WD is needed the most).

I was told by a service person that the TSB had been applied but it didn't really sound like he knew anything about it and there is absolutely no difference to the bump or driveline binding in my GC. Either the TSB was not successfully installed or it doesn't work at all.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

quick update from the Jeep service lady that while not being sexist, she is F'n clueless. She used to handle my company's fleet service, and she didn't last long in that spot. I'll get technical details from the shop manager. Anyway, she said there was a "flash"(no details to what was flashed) for the jeep and even after, the shop manager(who has a clue and is being cool) said, it still isn't right to him, so they are going to keep looking. Nice they gave me an update, and the rear window leak was fixed too(i just didn't have time myself), but wifey misses her jeep, and said, the new X5's are coming...I assume that means she's pissed her jeep is in the shop for this BS. I had to laugh, for a loaner, her options were a minivan or a truck, so now she's driving a quad cab 4x4 1500 hemi...still waiting for the call she hit something in her parking garage at work with it, cuz she's not taking my new charger! Peace

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Taking it for a ride today with shop mgr before they are calling it done...at their request. Said he wants me to be happy with it before we take it back. Thought that was a little beyond what most service guys would do. Apparently they have been able to reduce it enough, that the thump is the same as "all the other jeeps". Details to follow after the ride, fingers crossed.

I had TSB 21-003-13 applied - the rear bump feel when accelerating is different, still there sometimes, but better. I used to feel it almost every time I accelerated, now only intermittantly. Still notice it on left hand turns from a stop. The bump doesn't feel as pronounced as it was previously.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

Went for a drive Friday with the shop manager...99.5% gone, pretty happy with it. The tech who worked on it even said "holy sh$t, feels like that's doing some damage" before they flashed it. Took it home, no issues for the most part. Saturday noticed it one time, but not like it was, just a little bump in 100 or so miles of mixed driving. If it comes back, especially to the severity it was, guess we'll go back to the drawing board. Walked out without the paperwork, so I gotta get it to see what TSB they actually did.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

good to hear...please report back as I am taking mine in soon for service along with a few TSBs and would like to add this to the list and like many my dealer needs their hands held with things.

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

will do...if I could deal strictly with this guy they would be ok, but I gotta go through the one person(woman) who has a hard time scheduling an oil change, my wife is waaay more clued in than her. We'll see how it plays out. good luck

Re: Rear bump feel when accelerating

This has been very helpful reading everything today. I have noticed the same problem almost since I bought my 13 Laredo V6 this past November with only 14 miles on it. I always thought it was the brakes not releasing in time, but had some minor concerns. I am going to definitely talk with my dealership now to see if this TSB will apply.
