Re: Rear clunking/rattling noise

This noise is going to drive me insane (well maybe not that far but close)

-2013 GC Overland V8 w/ QuadraLift and Trailer Tow Package -13,000 miles

I have that "creak" or light "clunk" sound coming from just the back right side/suspension area. It only seems to happen as slow speed around a tight turn, and even more if the turn is angled (like into an inclined driveway). Also, from dead stop at a light, I will more times than not here the same noise....

It doesn't seem to be drive-train related at all; it's more like the body is shifting or creaking-type sound. And it's ONLY in that back right area!

Another thing I noticed: If I raise the suspension to off-road level 1 or 2, the noise is completely gone under all conditions.

Now to the present. Today I had both rear shocks changed by the dealer under warranty after reading the Service Bulletins mentioned on this thread. The new shocks they installed are:

68069675AD

I picked it up only an hour ago, and this noise is still there.... Uh this sucks!

Anyways, I just wanted to join the conversation, any suggestions or thoughts!?

Thanks!

I still have this issue...

Has anyone checked to see if maybe it's the subwoofer enclosure bouncing around a bit against the fender/wheel well?

Re: Rear clunking/rattling noise

For me, I've checked everything in the rear cargo area (spare tire, storage trays, etc.) for movement but haven't checked the sub housing.

I don't think that's going to be it on mine, due to when I raise it to off road level 1 or 2 the problem goes away.

Has anyone else noticed the creak going away in the raised positions?

Re: Rear clunking/rattling noise

Mother nature just took care of my clunking sound coming the right rear quarter . After 45K miles mine developed the clunking sound 4 weeks ago. I tried packing heavy duty grease above the shock as per another poster's recommendation, but it didn't work. Today it was in the high 50's all day and the noise is gone. My guess is the freezing temperature causes the metal and/or plastics to contract. Something tells me it is only temporarily gone. Once the temp drops again it' coming back.
