Angry Re: Rear Glass

I just discovered this morning that opening and closing the tailgate also causes the window to get caught on the rear pillar. I thought I would be able to get by with the tailgate but never realized how the two came together. Now I feel like using the window OR the tailgate will cause problems. The part is on national backorder with no estimated delivery date. Awesome...

Re: Rear Glass

Well using PL Premium Advanced as additional adhesive worked beautifully. I didn't have a problem, but wanted to reinforce the OEM glue. Filled the gaps on both hinges, both strut mounts and the lock mount.

After letting the PL Premium cure for 24h, I have noticed that the rear glass flexes less and is way more secure than before. Highly recommend people do this to prevent issues in the future.

I've used this Construction grade adhesive for all sorts of projects, no odor.

Re: Rear Glass

The part is still on backorder since the week of March 15th. I called Jeep Customer Service and have a Case Manager for this and my shudder problems. They are useless. They can't tell me anything about the part. She recommended that I don't use the tailgate of flipper window until it is fixed. WTF?!!!? Why bother to spend $45k on an effin SUV?

Her tone also changed when she found out I hadn't forked over $2k for a service contract. Why would I give Chrysler more of my money? I'm already going to take a loss when I dump this POS.

Re: Rear Glass

Lite,

That really sucks you should tell them to take one off the damn lot. That is what my dealer did for me without me even asking. Guess alot has to do with the dealership!

Re: Rear Glass

Yeah I've determined I am not dealing with a standup dealer. I am trying to come at this from all sides even case management and the Jeep Survey team. We'll see...

Re: Rear Glass

The PL Premium construction adhesive is awesome. I've noticed that the rear glass feels much more secure vs the oem glue. Again, I didn't have an issue with the rear glass, but after hearing about the issue some of you have described, I thought I would take some preventive measures.

I know we shouldn't have to be doing this to a new vehicle, but hey little issues like this are bound to happen on a new model year vehicle.

Re: Rear Glass

Driving down the highway and heard a little pop noise coming from the back of the truck. Stopped and checked and found that the passangers side of the rear flipper window was rubbing on the frame of the lift door.

As I am on the road for a few weeks I took it to the dealer here in El Paso. They said they window is on back order but they would do what they can. They also offered to fix the paint that rubbed off the frame of the window. I also noticed on the other side that the rear hatch was also rubbing on the paint so they said they would fix that too.

They stated that there are several of the JGC that they have seen with this same issue. They think it is the heat.

Now I just need to wait to get the part. It sucks having to wait as you really can not get the truck wet when it is like this.

Re: Rear Glass

I used RageofFury's adhesive (see Posts #21 and 26 above) on the rear flipper strut, hinge and latch points as soon as weather got warm enough around here in early March. Still as solid as ever.

The adhesive I used dried to a tan colour, but I had finished it off neatly. A little flat black paint and the owner-add-on glue job is invisible.

Recommended for all who believe in preventive maintenance.
