Rear parking sensors/camera

Anyone know of a way to turn the sound off,but leave the display on? The EVIC does not give you that option. You can have sound on or off,but if you want the display(camera)you have to keep the sound on. Really annoying when backing a trailer long distances. OR does anyone have any idea where the chime is located,so that maybe it could be muffled a bit. The volume on the nav unit(430n-RHB) has no effect as it does in bluetooth calls and nav voice. I don't want the expense or hassle of one of those aftermarket gizmos just to turn on the camera. Thanks.

Re: Rear parking sensors/camera

There is a button on your dash console that disables the audible parking sensors, independently of the rear view camera.

Talk about feeling stupid! Had this thing for eight months, and never paid attention to that button. Learn something new every day. Thanks.

Add me to the "stupid" driver location of this forum. I have had this truck since late March, and did not know what the heck that button did!

I saw it today once I looked for it. That might be the one button on my dash I have never touched.

Re: Rear parking sensors/camera

I use this button often. Here where I live, there are too many motorcycles riding between the cars on the stop lights, the sound can be very annoying.

Also, I find the beep too loud. Does anyone have a clue on where the chime is? The idea of muffling it a little bit seems to be good.

Re: Rear parking sensors/camera

I have to disable the beep whenever I have my bike rack on the hitch.

Re: Rear parking sensors/camera

Doesn't it only beep when in reverse? I don't see how motorcycles will activate the sensors in traffic if your in drive?

The rear parking sensors are active only when the transmission is in reverse.

Re: Rear parking sensors/camera

The console switch is a quick fix when pulling a trailer. Another method is located within the settings of the EVIC that gives you the option of camera and beep, rear camera only, or beep only.
