Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

It seems that the button on the rear tailgate that unlocks and locks my JGC Overland has stopped functioning. In the past it worked more that it didn't. Right now it does nothing. Is there any way to user reset this? Or are we off to the dealer?

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

The liftgate lock button is tied into the computer along with all the other locks. If they are working you may have a loose connection or bad switch.

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

Mine went bad about 3 weeks ago. My dealer checked it out and determined that the button was bad so they ended up ordering a new one which I'm going to have installed tomorrow.

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

I was going to post same thing rear gate button seems to be very Sensitive to where i have the keyfob... If keyfob is alone in front pocket or in one hand meand button will work. If keyfob in rearpocket or withother keys or in wife's purse rear button will not work.... Issue seems exclusive to rear gate button

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

Your keyfob has to be pretty close to the liftgate, within three feet according to the 2012 Owner's Manual, for the button on the liftgate to unlock the doors.

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

The defect is getting even stranger. Sometimes when I'm behind the tailgate the locks cycle on and off without me even touching the button. My guess is the the mechanism in the back button is sticking. It's almost funny to listen to it go wacky. Definitely needs a dealer visit soon.

Re: Rear Tailgate Power Lock Unlock Issue

Similar issues as well here with my 2011. My rear hatch is about a 50/50 shot on locking. Been going on for about 8 months now. It doesn't make any difference locking the car by using they key fob, the touch sensors, or the inside door lock/unlock buttons- either way you do it, still same 50/50 shot of it locking. Has spent many of many days at the dealership. In Jan alone they had it for 22 days. Still cant figure out why it wont work correctly. They have replaced the TIPM, the hatch lock actuator 3 times now, Also drivers door handle as well as the hatch sensor. Getting nowhere with Chrysler!! Any sugguestions....
