Rear window release button stopped working...

Today we noticed the rear window release button has stopped working...anybody ever have this issue?

I have to take it in for an enter-n-go button on the drivers door that doesn't always work, and the buttons on the steering wheel for the EVIC are also slow to accept commands. I suppose I'll take it in all at once.

Love the Jeep, but coming from owning Japanese cars I'm not used to these little glitches. Pretty annoying to have to go to the dealer for a small issue with a button when I don't use the dealer for service.

Re: Rear window release button stopped working...

The flipper glass button had a mind of it's own a few months in. Had it replaced by the dealer under warranty. Works like a charm now.

So yeah, dealer should be able to fix that for ya.

I've had my WK2 since Feb 2011 and the Keyless Enter N Go has worked flawlessly ever since. I'm still using the stock battery in the FOB lol.

Re: Rear window release button stopped working...

What happens to us is sometimes you have to hit the button on the drivers door a couple times to get it to lock...

Hmmm haven't encountered that yet.

Do you also have an issue with the door unlocking by grabbing the handle? If yes, then it could be an issue with the proximity sensor. If not, then it could be a faulty button.

I have that too. I thought it might be a faulty button until I noticed the same occasional behavior at the passenger door.

Re: Rear window release button stopped working...

You really have to use care that you don't grip or "partial grip" and push the button at the same time or it will not lock. Then it get's confused and you have to push the button another 2 or 3 times for it to "clear" and lock.

I take extra care to only use a single extended finger to push any of the buttons to lock the door (or unlock/lock the hatch), and it works 99% of the time. The other 1% of the time it takes 2-3 pushes, but only because I forget and put too much of my hand near the handle instead of extending a single finger to push the button.

It may be a little fussy, but it is still a nice feature. I have been looking at 2012-13 Challenger RT's and noticed that they have "flipper" handles with the button on the top, and appear to be less prone to this issue.

Best luck.

I make a fist, stick out my thumb, and use that to poke the button. There's no chance that I'm activating the sensor inside the handle. It still fails to lock 10% of the time. I just hit the button over and over until it works.

That happens to me sometimes. I end up having to bring the pocket with the keyfob closer to the door before I hit the button.

My wife doesnt have this issue with the lock button.

So it's either my fob ... or my bodily density ... that's the problem.

Re: Rear window release button stopped working...

I could tell the FOB was starting to lose range the past month or so (about 10 months old 2012 GC). I replaced the battery, and it is working much better now. I bought a multi-pack of the batteries and replaced them in all my fobs for all my cars. For the less than $10 cost, I will just plan to replace them all on an annual basis. The GC with it's "active" FOB seems to go through batteries much faster than my other vehicles (Ford and GM).

I noticed that when I am washing the GC with the FOB in my pocket, I am regularly tripping the unlock whenever I am near the front door handles (lights flash and you hear the latches "click"). Not a big deal, just shows how sensitive the feature can be sometimes. Best luck.

Try rubbing the top of your head with your other hand at the same time.
