Good and I'm glad you are enjoying the Overland!. I'm going to deal with the clunk clunk clunk til the 2016's come out. If I see that I don't like the 16's I'll buy the extended warranty on mine. We should see pictures of the 16's by winter of 15 if not before.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Mine is going in for the rear clunking shocks tomorrow. Mine seems to only clunk when it's hot. I didn't notice it in the winter, but it's very noticable now. I also have an intermittant CEL: comes and goes. AZ pulled the code, and it was for torque converter clutch cylinoid. It seems to shift fine? This is the first time it's been back to the dealer in 20K mi, and 20 months.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I've got a 2014 Limited - no air suspension or tow package. Getting a clunk in the rear end only on firm take-offs from a dead stop - mostly when stopped on any sort of incline. Mentioned it to the dealer and they tried to tell me it was the Hill Start Assist feature. I don't think they ever looked at it. Subsequently, I've turned that off in the Controls menu and i'm still getting the thud/clunk and slight hesitation on some take-offs and it's actually starting to occur more frequently. I'm assuming something is just loose in the rear but taking it in soon to get checked out. Better not be this same shock/strut issue...

EXACTLY what mine does, and I have a 14 Overland. I was thinking it might be the hill start myself, but have yet to try it when turned off. Im going to the dealer Saturday to see what they say.

There is an AF version of the shocks and as NonoPro said "Jeep is not accepting any vehicle with AD shocks until the AF ones are off national back order".

Drtbkr can you find out what version of shocks your 14' Overland has? The part number will probably end in either AD or AF.

thanks!

That is a different issue, nothing to do with the shocks (and also nothing with the Hill Start Assist). Search for 'clunk on startup'

What you have is the 'rolling bowling ball in the trunk' which occurs when starting if. Rattle we are talking in this thread is a 'box of marbles' rattle occurring with low speeds (<25mph) going over rough roads.

Lucky you :-)

For the bump there is a TSB, which reduces it, but it remains present

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I'd still be interested to see what version of shocks the 14's are running and if they have that side to side clunk, jar, clunk shock issue with the self load leveling shocks.
