I have same problem on Gc Ltd 2014. Dealer replaced shocks in the back at 2000 miles. Now at 3000 miles, clunk noise is back. Starcase, whatever bullshit is opened with Chrysler... Whatever that means..... Just really fed-up with all this garbage. Shittiest car I've ever owned... Just plain crap.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

2014 Grand Cherokee Limited with ORA-II (which includes the tow package). I have the air suspension. A light clunk/rattle is noticeable on the right rear side. I do not have any air suspension error messages. The noise sounds appears to be that of metal hitting metal, so maybe I just have something loose. But what?

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

This is the last main issue I have for my 2014 V6 GC Limited 4x4 (after getting my transmission reflash). At first I thought maybe the spare tire or jack set up on top was loose. My GC has clunked over bumps since day one.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

i drove behind my wife this morning and it appeared that the gap between the fenders and the rear wheels was smaller on the right side. I called the wife who reported the same thing. Tonight I will cycle the Jeep thru its suspension settings, use a tape measure and record the gaps and schedule a service appointment if the gaps are suspiciously different.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Norm, thanks for the video.. i pulled my right rear on sunday and i couldn't budge it by putting all of my weight on it.. and moving the rear of my jeep up and down was silent with it out.. put it back in and clunk clunk..

Are there aftermarket rear shocks for these yet? personally i don't care about the load leveling as i will never tow anything..

P.S. called some local parts stores... no aftermarket shocks yet.. said its usually a couple of years..

So just a follow up with dealership visit. I went there couple weeks ago and told me the shocks were bad and there was a star case and they were working on redesigning them. annoyed but whatever. So I called Chrysler to get more information about the star case and they turned around and called there dealership to get the info. They had the nerve to call me back and tell me the dealership told them there was no problem and the noise was normal. This is totally unacceptable on a 50,000 dollar car. The noise was not there on day one and if it was I wouldn't have bought a brand new car making this noise. Where do I go from here?

Glad the Video helped!

I've been looking online for some aftermarket shocks, No luck yet!
I do intend to replace those self leveling shocks with just regular shocks.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Had my right rear shock replaced again. This is the second time in a month. They also found a bad shock mount, and a bad ball joint on the front right. Only 30k miles and already two shocks, shock mount and a ball joint. Tried to find aftermarket shocks but none are available. No more Chryslers for me.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Is there any indications that a newer version of rear shocks (AE) are in the works? My AE's lasted about a month. Has the clunk been isolated to the shocks or the mounting area? All I know is that it's driving me crazy.
JGC 2012 Lerado X, tow & nav pac. 17000 miles.

Thanks for any input.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Had mine in awhile back for new rear shocks. This was done with under 4000 on the odometer. I have an appointment late October for yet another set. I am not optimistic about the result this time with about 5000 on the odometer. I tried to complain to Chrysler about it. They told me they had no information this problem (yeah right) and to just go to a dealership for repairs. This will be the last Jeep product t5hat I ever buy. I also intend to tell anyone I know who is looking at a GC to look elsewhere. It is the least I could do considering how good this one is.
