Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I did a bit of research, I came up with these that look extremely similar, Bilstein 24-144834 B4.
Any thought's, I know they fit Merc ML Class, but isn't the GC rear suspension setup based on the ML?

Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873

Or these perhaps. Someone with an old shock needs to go to a supplier and check these out.

Bilsten 24-225427 is what came up for 2012 Laredo 3.6

Strangely enough, when I go to the online catalog, and put in 2014 JGC it comes up with what you found. Crawled under the Jeep and it looks nothing like the picture. I Don't know what the 2012 model shocks look like.

My '14 5.7 RWD W/Tow package has the same problem at 1,000 miles. Before I take it back to the stealership I would like to collect all the forum information available in order to help them correct the problem. This noise drives me crazy. If there is an aftermarket shock that will fix the issue I'm all for that. Has anyone found a permanent fix for this?

Great question. I believe, unfortunately, that a permanent fix is still unknown. I'm going to have the upper shock mounts replaced Saturday. We shall see.

Well here I am getting the rear upper shock mounts done via tsb. Naperville IL CJDR. I asked the service writer if I could go get some pictures while it was up on the lift. Of course not. I'm thirty years old... Anyway, liability is liability I suppose. These guys are doing my vanity mirror wiring as well. I'll report back with results. Again, at this time I have a 12 Laredo altitude with 21k on the clock. I have had rear shocks replaced two times already.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Car seems pretty solid right now, no real clunks. However, it was pretty good with the 2nd set of shocks I had them do. I will report back here as time progresses.

I just had the dealer do these mounts today as a precaution mostly since other guys on here reported having their shocks replaced more than 2 times...

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I had the fix done and the shock and coil assembly replaced on both sides at the same time. So far in about 500 miles the rear is silent and feels more solid than in the past when the shocks were replaced in an attempt to fix the issue. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

The dealer changed the shocks under warranty when I took to get the transmission check, it was fine until around 8k km, but it's back again in full force.

If I change to an aftermarket suspension (spring/shocks), to get a little height drop, would this fix the issue?

Did you have the shock brackets replaced in addition to the springs and shocks?
