Today I feel like it may be slowly creeping back. Maybe my imagination but it seems to be getting noisy again, not to the level of a rattle or "chuckle" as the TSB calls it but the early stages. My guess is the towing is accelerating it.
By cup I believe you mean the upper shock mounts I assume - I had those replaced as well - I believe twice now. I can't even keep track.

I believe us factory tow, non-quadralift guys just got these super awesome shocks that are prone to failing. I am suggesting to the case manager on my open case with Jeep to simply let the dealer confirm they are failing again and then let me get whatever aftermarket shocks I desire (Bilstein) I honestly do not care if they are load-leveling as I rarely ever tow - I have only towed a small enclosed trailer a few times - but if I tow in the future with a little sag, I'm ok with that.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Fellas

Just an update on my situation. Jeep Customer Care has agreed to proceed with aftermarket shocks for me. I have asked they install Bilstein's 5100 series shocks in not only the rear, but the front. Keep in mind, I am on my 4th failure on the rear OEM load leveling shocks. I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo Altitude with factory tow (load leveling shocks in the rear... )

I assume a few of you guys will be surprised to hear this news (the fact Jeep has agreed to go this route) but I have had a pretty good experience thus far with Jeep Customer Care, and have been pushing for an aftermarket route with these guys for a while now. I cannot say this will work for anyone else but its always worth a shot to open a case with customer care and see what happens.

Today is 10/18/2015 and the Bilstein shocks are on order for me, nothing has been installed yet. I have 28xxx miles currently.

I've been having this issue. I took my jeep into the dealer to have a different issue looked at. When I brought the print out in regards to the bad shocks, I was looked at like I was some kind of idiot. The guy says he's never heard of this problem and in no way is it covered under warranty and they won't do anything about it unless I pay for it.

Sounds like a nice service writer. I would go to a different dealer, if that's not an option open a case with Jeep customer care.

The guy is a dick every time I go in there. He looks at me like I'm lying or making stuff up. This morning I told myself I won't be taking it back to that dealership next time I need something done. He didn't even look at the warranty and said, "Yeah that's not covered. I don't know who told you it would be." Does any one know where I can get a copy of the warranty and what it covers?

When I purchased the Jeep I bought an extended warranty I believe. It was 3 years or 100k miles. He said it wouldn't be covered under that one. Maybe just a power train warranty.

Honestly it sounds like you just have a total douche service writer. I would opt for a different dealership. This doesnt fall under powertrain - powertrain is engine/trans....transfer cases, etc

I agree. I'm sure he will call me back and say they couldn't duplicate the problem when in fact I have shown him video of the problems I am having. It's like they just grabbed some guy who needed a job and threw him behind the service desk.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

This is my first time posting on these forums, but I wanted to let everyone know I am having the same rear rattle/chuckle that many of you are having with the factory load leveling shocks on our 2015 Laredo.

I started noticing the sound about 2 months ago. We bought the vehicle brand new and it currently has 16,000 miles on it since last October. I recently took the vehicle in to the dealer and they agreed they could hear the noise, mostly on gravel roads under 10mph. I showed them the threads and TSB's that were posted for the 2011-2014 and they said they would take a look.

I knew there wasn't a "fix" but they went ahead and "added grease" to the top shock mounts. The noise is still there.

SO I guess this is just something we are going to have to live with then..Kinda bummed.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

The dealer told me the replacement part was only $30. In the future when it does come back, because it will, I'll just do it myself. Mine has already started, just tow on a gravel road and it will accelerate the process. I tow about once a month so I think I need the load leveling shocks, right?
