Took it to dealer last week, they said the left rear shock was "blown out," replaced it and returned vehicle to me. 100 miles later the sound is back. Really hoping Chrysler issues a TSB on this issue. It really is embarrassing to drive friends / colleagues around in a $45k vehicle with such a noise clearly audible. But the main concern is that something will break while driving and strand us, or worse.
You might still be in luck you mentioned the dealer replaced the right shock and not the left shock so chances are the left one went bad as well... I'm pretty confident that if its just the shocks that are going bad on us we need not worry about a break down just a little extra body roll and a little bumpier ride. I talked to my dealer about this problem and of course there willing to fix it but they said the shocks are on back order and couldn't give me a date on when I might get them he was thinking a month or better, that bitess, the shocks are getting a little louder every day I drive it. And why Chrysler hasn't recalled it is beyond me I suppose someone has to get hurt before they do that.

So Maggie did that fix your problem and is it still good ? Seems to me that most people who had their shock or shocks replaced have had the same problem return on them. Also does your GC have quadra lift ? mine does and I'm almost certain I do not have air shocks. And with the back order on the shocks I'm ready to buy some after market ones....

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I'm still wondering about this too, I notice the clunk mainly doing 30-55 mph and that is most of my driving. Has anyone asked Milous if he can find out if they are working on a fix for this?

QL rear shocks seems to have a different part number than those used on non-QL models, so it may have different shock damping. The shock has a mounting bracket on the bottom and I don't think you will find aftermarket shocks that are a direct fit. If you do, let us know. I'd like a little stiffer shock.

There are 6 different part numbers listed for rear QL shocks, the metal spring models have three others.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Howdy Folks. I had the same noise with my 2010 Patriot a few months ago. I ran it into the shop and they told me nothing was wrong, but that it was pretty grimy, as the roads were a mess and it may help to run it through an undercarriage carwash. I did the noise went away, but now that it has warmed up again and the roads are salty/sandy and wet, the noise is back with a vengeance. Tries the undercarriage spray at the local carwash, but it didn't seem to work. Maybe the sparayer wasn't on as it is -12C. I like to see that there may actually be a problem and will keep pestering the dealership accordingly.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Hi all, I just had my rear struts replaced today for the 4th time ("AC" rev).
after hearing the news from other members , i dont think it will be my last time. This is getting old every 1k miles.

The dealership said this rev was the fix.....

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

I had my shocks replaced with the AC revision about 3 months ago and the clunk came back with in the 700-1000 miles. I will schedule again with Service to get them replaced again while doing my routine service this month.
This will be the 5th time in 6400 miles I have put in this car in one year.
I dont drive it much do to having another car for work related driving.

Wow that sucks fifth time ... Are you about ready to buy some after market shocks / struts ,I'm seriously thinking about it. I mean think about how much gas and time we are wasting with these temporary fixes. (Or maybe that's what Chrysler wants!)

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Just started on mine with about 7,000 miles. About the time it started getting cold around here. Going to call the dealer next week as I don't have the time this week.
