Unless they do a TSB soon that may be the route I take... haha I'll have a factory tow hitch in the for sale section...

We have the self-leveling shocks -- with the tow package (V6). I've driven it recently, turned the radio down, and no thump. Last summer, it was louder, but I never took it back to dealer .

Sorry, imprecise question from my side. The shocks are coming in different versions (improvements) of one kind. You can see it at the last two letters of the part number E.g. SLS in version AD are the most current one. The TSB states to put the AC version in. Rumors are that an AF version is coming to fix the issue.

There is a TSB out to fix it, but states that you have to replace the shocks with the AC version and a lot of us had the noise with them too and several are already with the AD version and still have the noise

^ That's exactly why I never took mine in. I knew the shocks were fine -- just noisy. It was only noticeable with the radio way down, and while driving slow.

As far as I'm concerned if I can buy a 18-24k truck and have 6 yrs of silent shock operation then I damn well better get the same out of something that cost me double!

I'm going to be eager to see if the 14's have this issue. Although I don't see them tweaking the shocks and suspension just for a refresh.

I hope they get this fixed soon. The clunk in the back is making my almost one year old Jeep sound like a horse drawn carriage when the music is low LOL.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Took the Jeep to the dealer yesterday (6/14/13) they have ordered new shocks MY12. When I get the warranty statement I'll post the part numbers they used and I'll report back after a few hundred miles and let everyone know how they are holding up.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Took mine in a couple days ago. They replaced the rear shocks. It appears that the small bump slow speed clunk noise is better. It also appears that the suspension is just plain a bit noisy. If the noise comes back the Jeep goes back to the shop. Fingers crossed.

Re: Rearend or rear suspension clunk/creak

Posted this on a different string but.... my 2011 has had 4 sets of shocks if you count the originals. My story is the same--once with noise returning before I got home. I jacked it up tonight, pulled the right rear wheel just to look at bushings. I lubed everything with a silicone based lubricant. My test drive greeted me with the noise being worse--clunks even easier now. This is the biggest bunch of BS ever. A 40k car that can't have quiet shocks??? I doubt Yugo's have had these problems. I really could just scream!! I've been to the dealer about 7 times for this same freaking problem. It is a 100 mile round trip every time. Perhaps it's time for a class action suit---any lawyers out there?? This is mental cruelty! This really impresses me with Chrysler's engineers. Think about it-they can't design a shock system that won't clunk....shock absorbers--not a computer glitch, transmission, or engine problem-- freaking shock absorbers!! Over the years, every Chrysler product I bought had some screwball problem-many major. After 15 years I thought surely to God they had not screwed up Jeep--I was wrong.

Sorry to hear about you repeat troubles. What was the version/part number on the last repair? I had the issue repaired once this past march with part number 68069675AD and have 7,500 quiet miles.
