Re: Recall for Alternator

“The first recall, which affects 470,000 2011-2014 model year vehicles equipped with Chrysler's 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 160-amp alternators, addresses a potential defect which can lead to failure of the alternator itself, resulting in a vehicle stall or potentially a fire.”

220 amp alternators are fine.

Re: Recall for Alternator

I think Chrysler should pay my monthly bill till the end of the yr with all these recalls.

Didn't catch that. Thanks! One less recall to worry about.

That may be what you think, but they would probably disagree.

Re: Recall for Alternator

It's only the 160 amp alternator, and the mirror problem is a Wrangler problem.

I missed that tidbit, too... Thanks!!

So... for 2014... that would just be the stock Laredo models.

I have a Limited which comes with the 180-amp. My sister has a Laredo but bought the full tow package and would have the 220-amp. So neither of us are affected by this recall.

Re: Recall for Alternator

Well, while they are taking care of this, they can check/replace the air bag control, keep the vanity mirror from burning up, and make sure you can stop rather than driving thru the walls at the service bay.

Jeep isn't the only model with record recalls this year, the whole industry seems to be on a run to destroy the previous record, and there's still a couple months left.

Maybe Sergio just doesn't like Darryl Issa or pretty much all of USofA congress...

Record year for sales, but disproportionate record year for recalls as well.

Go figure, you can't just hire someone off the street and turn them into a skilled worker in 30 seconds or less.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was getting worried as my dealer already screwed up the visor wiring fix. Lost all my map lights, vanity lights in the visors, and my lights dim then get bright when I have the door open. Have to have them fix it again. Luckily I have the 180 amp on mine.
