Re: Recall for Alternator

just go to: https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

and put in your VIN and see if this applies to you. Luckily mine doesn't fall under this recall or any other current recall that was issued according to this site.

Re: Recall for Alternator

Minor point but my '12 Laredo had the factory towing package and 160A alternator. About all my TP included was a the receiver, wiring, and full sized spare (one size fits all).

What a joke....so much for quality control.
Just remember that these Jeeps are built in the plant that caught several union assembly workers smoking pot and drinking booze during their lunch. They were caught not once but twice. The sad thing is the union made sure they still work there.

Re: Recall for Alternator

Figures the only SUV I like has ridiculous amount of recalls. Have they fixed the issue with them stalling out on the highway?

Re: Recall for Alternator

I had read that my 2014 Summit may have a recall about the alternator where it can suddenly stall yet I never got the official letter nor does it show when I put in my VIN on Jeep site. All it shows is the latest air bag module?!?!???!

Re: Recall for Alternator

I had all intentions on buying my 2012 JGC off lease next month.

Not going to happen now.

Done with it.

Got stuck today in 20F weather because of a failed alternator.

Already had the heads done under another recall. What's next ?

The Jeep dealership is completely unresponsive and Chrysler was no better over the phone.

I have to foot the bill ($700+) and submit for reimbursement (haha).

That is almost as bad as what Honda has needed to do with several of its Goldwings prior to late-2004. There were some cracks in the frame welds, and the fix is to replace the frame.

We have a Limited and a Summit (both 2014's) and are apparently not included in the alternator recall. We each received notices on a couple of other small items, but will have the dealership do them at the time of their next oil changes.

Re: Recall for Alternator

And just received a pre-notice that probably in April they will be able to "fix" the alternator issue. What I do not understand is that my service department said they will need all day for the recall.
a) Don't think R&R of an alternator on my V6 is more than a half hour job.
b) Doubt that they will bench rebuild the alternator.

So what is taking so long ? YWTK

Mines going in on Monday to address this recall. The side air bag....still no parts and of course I will have them try to fix the transmission for the 12th time
