Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Got my recall notice today... Have had the christmas tree dash twice now so hope this fixes it.
I am calling the dealer in the morning and making an appointment for Dec 2 to take it in.
My transmission still has a learning disability and keeps going back to the poor shift patterns...
This will be visit #4 for the tranny.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Took my GC in for an appointment at 7:30am for the recall and oil change and finally got notified that it was finished at 7pm. Roads are bad here in Oklahoma tonight so told them I would pick it up tomorrow.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Got mine today. Taking it in next week and I guess it will be there for another week. Tranny flash,Radio re-flash (hopefully replacement) both have been done twice before. Replacement of a cracked drivers door exterior handle. Several other small issues and now the recall. Hopefully the recall will take care of the dash problem the first time.

That seems to be...ridiculously low mileage out of the synthetic, which I had hoped to push to 5000 miles. For comparison, I change it on my turbocharged Subaru every 3000 miles as the extra lubrication challenges really damage the oil - it becomes darker after 500 miles.
Wondering if something else is going on here. I have the recall fix scheduled for December 3, but two weeks ago I took it in to have the transmission fix and have rock rails installed. My oil life indicated 79% remaining when I took it in and 45% when they released it. The vehicle has 2200 miles on it. Maybe, they are running the vehicle for the entire time it is there and the oil sensor thinks it's under heavy duty. Maybe there's something else involved.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Recall letters haven't been issued in the UK yet but dealers have the software update so had mine done today with no ill-effects so far. Took about 2 and a half hours. I now have numbers on the dial speedo.

I had an appointment for 7:30am on Friday. They finished at 7:00pm. I picked up the next day.

I called them at 1pm on Friday and they said they were working on it. Called again at 3pm and they said they had started working on it. Called back at 6pm said still working on it. Had the recall done, oil change, and rotate tires. I was't happy.

Took my JGC in early last week for the recall and TSB updates. Got a report back that something went wrong and they had to order parts. Finally got it back today. Work order reads, "After performing Recall N58 instrument cluster has no backlighting and is not working, contacted STAR and STAR recommended replacement of the cluster, ordered cluster. Complete replaced cluster, vehicle operating as designed." Also shows they updated PCM, ASCM and HVAC.

Hope everything works now.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Mine have N58 recall completed today. It took about 3.5 hours. I regret my decision for waiting at a dealership. I waste half day... Anyway... software update completed... no change I can find.. just hope no more issue for instrument cluster black-out. ( I have cluster black out twice, but no X-mas tree effect)

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Mine was done in less than an hour. One of the few times I have taken it in and got it back before I needed it. Its in for the Radio now. They took out the headliner so finally addressing the Antenna code. Will post in that thread when I get it back. Guessing sometime late tomorrow afternoon.

Last time they had the headliner out to fix the passenger drain for the sunroof, they had an extra screw left over (found it in the cup holder). Hopefully they thought it was lost and replaced it from inventory... hmmm wishful thinking or do I have a missing screw myself...

Did they tell you what the code was? When mine was in to have the recall I mentioned the "phone needs service" - they pulled a code (I have it on paperwork) for weak signal or something. Disassembled and reseated antenna and all components, 5 days later and we are still all good.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

There has been a lot of talk about Jeep quality and their lack luster response to problems. No doubt they have some problems.

But for those who think it's just a Jeep thing, think again. Ford has just announced the seventh recall on the Escape since last year. The latest includes fuel and oil leaks which can/have caused fires.

They will be issuing the recall notices in January.

I'd rather be driving a car that may not have abs brakes than one that may catch fire.

Neither situation is good, but there are degrees of seriousness.
Just sayin'
