Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

They can't do anything until they get the software from Chrysler. Stamping your feet won't speed up the process.

My dealership already received the "update" which is why I took it in last week. I am still having the same problem...

Are you sure your dealer didn't do the uConnect update? Check your invoice. If so, it has nothing to do with your problem.

I was talking to my service manager last week while I was in for something else. He was aware of the problem having had a couple of customers that experienced it. He checked to see if anything came in yet from Jeep ... Nada.

It's only a big deal if you let it be. But, you follow these threads carefully. You know how many people have reported this. And you know, except for the initial shock, it is not much of an issue.
Not to start a fight, but there's no way you can assure 100% that the OP's vehicle is safe to drive with his current electrical issues.

What if one of those CELs are real...like the ABS or air bag lights? I had a CEL for air bags light up on me while driving my new Jeep off the lot...and it was real.

Sorry, but I wouldn't feel safe driving a vehicle that didn't have functioning air bags or ABS.

Just out of curiosity, how many times have you brought your new 2014 Jeep GC in for warranty service for issues you've had?

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Yes bill de it was the specific update to correct my problem. Do you honestly think I would have brought the vehicle in if it wasn't. I have much better things to do with my time than sit at the sh!t hole of a dealership.

The service manager even read the update word for word to me to prove it was going to correct my problem.

You're not starting a fight. We have different opinions.

IMHO - if they were real issues the mil light would not go out. It only goes out if, after several starts, it no longer sees a problem. As for abs, no big deal. I've had abs since '87, and only had them activate 2 or 3 times. Unless a wheel starts to lock up the abs just sits there waiting to do something. It's kind of like the Maytag repairman, mostly doing nothing.

If the OP is having electrical issues, this is not a safe assumption.

Many people on this site would disagree here. It sure is nice to have ABS on a wet slick/snow covered road when driving in traffic..especially in a heavy SUV.

The Christmas tree dash a wheel bearing and a vehicle phone issue.

I think I was among the first with the dash problem. At first they were really concerned. Once Jeep told them the codes had to be false, because the systems that were affected couldn't have all failed and fixed themselves by the next day we all relaxed. They checked the suspected ground, but that was ok. They asked me to call if it happened again. I did, and Jeep sent them a PCM. I continued to drive the car for a week or so before the PCM came in. I drove the beaches, the highway, and around town. No lights, no failures, no surprises. I let them change the PCM anyway because, I was told, Jeep wanted to check it out.

If the dash lit up today, I wouldn't even call them until I got the recall letter.

After posting to your issues on another thread, I believe you are talking about a different problem here. The instrument cluster and the radio problem are two separate issues. There is a Uconnect update that may or may not fix the radio problem you're having. If not, your radio probably needs to be replaced. The instrument cluster problem has been determined to be a software incompatibility issue that will require a software update that isn't available to dealers yet. That will be remedied with an upcoming recall notice to be mailed to affected owners. That mailing will go out when the fix is made available to dealers sometime this month.

It's becoming clear to me, and others here, that many of the problems owners are having are do to software glitches that are manifesting themselves after much real world use. This is very normal in the software world, and fixes will be delivered. Think "Windows Update Tuesday" that happens every month. Welcome to the 21st century.

That's fine if people disagree. The last thing I want is for people to take my word as gospel on any topic. I simply post my opinions based on my experiences. If everybody agreed, there would be no discussion.

Now, if I learn to walk on water I will expect to be taken more seriously.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

I realize it's a different problem. Guess I was just jumping on the bandwagon of problems associated with the newest jeep.

Like previously stated, my dealership stated they received the most recent update...this was last week. Now your saying there is a newer update...oh well guess this will be the norm for my 3 year lease.

The next one will be an actual recall, but not for all vehicles. It will have nothing to do with radios.

As for radio problems, a number have had to be replaced when the updates didn't solve the problem.
