As for radio problems, a number have had to be replaced when the updates didn't solve the problem.
And they are finding it all goes back to a problems with a brake computer module communicating with Uconnect and EVIC. The recall should fix these problems (not sure if they are updating the software or replacing the module). Also, make sure you are running the newest Uconnect update 13.38.52

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but let's try to keep our problem threads separated to avoid confusion. The update you got was for the radio, not the instrument cluster problem. That one is not yet available. This thread is about the instrument cluster "christmas tree" problem, which is entirely different from the problem you're having with your radio. If the Uconnect software they updated your radio with is not helping, you need to take it back and let them know. Others have, and had their radios replaced.

This thread is about the instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel. There is a solution, but it's not yet made it through the pipeline to dealers.

I'm sure Will could explain it better, but I believe he has just taken delivery of his new JGC CRD, so I don't expect to hear from him for a while. Boys with new toys!

What I read was that for the JGC they are updating firmware for PCM and ABS module.

The Durango is not getting the ABS update.

IMHO - if they were real issues the mil light would not go out. It only goes out if, after several starts, it no longer sees a problem. As for abs, no big deal. I've had abs since '87, and only had them activate 2 or 3 times. Unless a wheel starts to lock up the abs just sits there waiting to do something. It's kind of like the Maytag repairman, mostly doing nothing.

---
If I were driving it i wouldn't mind as much but it is my wife's jeep so no abs is a big deal, especially on a 36k vehicle. The real issue is according to the recall I read online if the issue happens while you are driving the air bags will not deploy. That is the big issue with waiting for a fix. It may be a one in a billion chance, but it could be the difference between walking away from a accident or being taken out in a body bag.

What if one of those CELs are real...like the ABS or air bag lights? I had a CEL for air bags light up on me while driving my new Jeep off the lot...and it was real.

Sorry, but I wouldn't feel safe driving a vehicle that didn't have functioning air bags or ABS.
I would, but then I tend to drive like someone who actually learned to drive before all those darwin-defeating gadgets were available to keep the gene pool polluted.

But, what if a meteorite comes slamming down thru the atmosphere and hits the GC just at the exact instant the instrument panel goes out? You wouldn't know how fast you were going as you are vaporized?

What if a big rock falls off the side of a cliff 10 miles away, but hits a small object and sends it hurtling thru your windshield at 0.707 C, vaporizing your head?

What if a full grown bull moose decides your jeep looks feminine?

What if a rabid mouse jumps into your engine compartment and infects your air filter, thus spreading rabies virus all over your engine?

What if an armadillo wearing an iron man suit jumps up just as your jeep passes over?

What if a virus implanted by the russian mob takes over your remote start and power train controls and rams your jeep thru your garage onto you as you sleep blissfully unaware that electronically controlled vehicles can be hacked?

What if we are invaded by the Chinese and all forced to drive Buicks?

Wierd, mine did the xmas tree twice in the first couple hundred miles, but for reasons I fail to understand at all, has behaved itself for over 7500 miles.

Battery reset cured the first instance. Shut off driver door open/close and 5 minutes cured the second except for the MIL that since it wasn't blinking was left to turn itself off within a day's driving.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

This latest recall appears to be an expansion of what was previously reported. Now Chrysler is also stating that the problem is due to lose alternator ground cables and they will be checking that along with the software updates.

Jeep recalls 92k Grand Cherokee SUVs over electrical issue - Autoblog
From the article above:

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler is recalling 91,559 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2014 model year due to some serious electrical issues. All of the affected models were built between January 8 and August 20, 2013.

Since mine was built in July, it looks like I'll be scheduling a trip to the dealer later this month when I get the recall. I haven't seen the issue, but it's important to me that this fix is applied before the snow flies. After all, it's possible that the problem exists without me knowing about it...

If you go onto moparownersconnect.com, and sign in, they will tell you if you particular Jeep is part of the recall. My current one, and my previous one are both part of the recall.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

My moparowner connect states I have a recall on my jeep for the instrument cluster and I should contact my dealer. Was off work today so thought it would be a good opportunity to get this taken care of. Thought id try a different local dealer this time and that dealer told me that he heard rumors of the recall but "we have not received the parts and software for the instrument cluster update" Not sure why some dealers would have the software and why some would not. All so not sure what parts he is talking about as the recall says no parts needed. What don't they have a wrench to tighten the nut to the ground cable?

There are no parts. That's just another way of saying that he doesn't know what's going on. The dealers do not have the update yet, but from what I understand it should be this month.
