I know there are no parts I was being sarcastic. If the dealers don't have the update yet then how did the guy a few posts up have it completed already?? I also would not have even called the dealer if my ownerconnect had not told me to "Contact your nearest dealer to resolve the following recall" in big bright yellow letters. Maybe they need to get their dealers onboard with this before they start telling people to contact their dealer to bring their Jeeps in don't you think.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

With the complexity of all the software updates, why would anybody want to be first?

I think I'll wait 'til I get the letter, or until Willx has had a chance to take a look see at how successful it is.

Well Bill I agree and I don't necessarily want to be first but I was off work today so it was convenient for me to do it today rather than screw around with it during the work week and insane traffic.

And that ground, plus the one for the braided cable just behind it, aren't that difficult to tighten.

Anyone that ever owned an old ZJ has probably tightened it already. They were infamous.

You said your dealer said they didn't have parts yet and that's what I was talking about. To answer your question maybe that one person that had the update is wrong or confused?? Who knows, but from what I have been told the update is not out yet.

Please clarify. Are you talking about owners connect online, or a message given to you on the U connect or EVIC?

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

I see the recall on my ownerconnect page was well, but I expected as much as mine was in the date range that was part of the announcement.

I understand the hesitation towards applying this update as the fix for the transmission shifting has gone through a number of iterations. However, I would think that an ABS and traction control update would have been thoroughly tested before being released.

Then your a fool old man to put your passengers & yourself at risk if those safety features were disabled. Air bags are important not only if you hit something, but also if someone hits you (like a drunk driver)...or can your uber driving skills stop any accident from happening to your vehicle. You can't be this stupid, can you?

But, what if a meteorite comes slamming down thru the atmosphere and hits the GC just at the exact instant the instrument panel goes out? You wouldn't know how fast you were going as you are vaporized?

What if a big rock falls off the side of a cliff 10 miles away, but hits a small object and sends it hurtling thru your windshield at 0.707 C, vaporizing your head?

What if a full grown bull moose decides your jeep looks feminine?

What if a rabid mouse jumps into your engine compartment and infects your air filter, thus spreading rabies virus all over your engine?

What if an armadillo wearing an iron man suit jumps up just as your jeep passes over?

What if a virus implanted by the russian mob takes over your remote start and power train controls and rams your jeep thru your garage onto you as you sleep blissfully unaware that electronically controlled vehicles can be hacked?

What if we are invaded by the Chinese and all forced to drive Buicks?
What if you weren't such a drama queen?

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Yesterday at the dealership in Huntington Beach, I mentioned the upcoming recall. The service counter guy told me that a woman has just come in for a flakey cluster after she got a ticket because of it.

I read the documents on file with the government, and Chrysler has been working on this issue since April.
