There is a reason that car related deaths have been going down for years... you might have been able to sleep fine but I would prefer to have ALL of the safety features of my vehicle working when I drive it.

Re: Recall notices for instrument cluster

Mine is at the dealer now having the N58 instrument cluster recall done. She told me that they have already done several of these and for what ever reason the actual software download to the modules is taking a long time as in hours for the download. They are telling all that come in it is a 3-4 hour job/wait. I don't think this was a lie because they did take it straight back to the bay as soon as I pulled in and that was about 3 hours ago. So not sure if it will be that way at all dealers but just be prepared for a potential long wait to have it completed.

Definitely been making good use of the maximum care rental benefit the past few months lol. Have the 2014 Ram pickup as the rental, 395 horse power and that thing is quick for a truck!

So few accidents actually have airbag deployment. There are countless reasons deaths have gone down - to name a few - education on drunk driving, better car design, better road and intersection design, mandatory seat belt use...... the list goes on and on. Yes, airbags do save lives, and I would prefer to have them, but I would not put my car away for 3 days if I knew the airbags would not work.

Yes we know airbags are a valuable addition to any car, but it's not a fundamental requirement before you get in and drive a car.. I think GClimited was going a little bit OTT, saying that it's not safe for you and your passenger or whatever, and really making a big deal out of it.. If it were seat belts now I would understand.. member Shannon was only making a valid point..

..Yes death rates over the years have declined, but it's not just down to simply putting airbags in a car. Auto makers have spend millions on improving the overall design of cars.. Rigid safety cages, extra strong material, energy absorbing chassis, seat belt systems etc etc.. All of which contributes to that statistic.. Not just adding an airbag.

The new Chinese car called Brilliance has an airbag, let see if you would get out of that alive!!
Crash test were so bad the car had to be banned from sale in certain countries... Oh wait, it had an airbag!!

Yet another person who didn't read my posts correctly.

I drove my Jeep for the 3 days it didn't have air bags, but I should have asked the dealership for a loaner in retrospect. I also never retained a lawyer or went the Lemon Law route, and elected to keep bringing my vehicle back to the dealership until they got it right.

It's sad that there's people who still don't appreciate the importance of air bags or ABS, especially for their passengers. And BTW, seat belts don't help you much in a side collision...side curtain or seat air bags would though.

And I still feel that it's not a "big deal" to ask for a loaner if your air bags or ABS may be malfunctioning, common sense really.

I did read your post correctly. If you read my post CORRECTLY, I said "I would not put my car away for 3 days" Note the key word "I" Maybe you need to lighten up and allow others their opinions, as you whine to others when they do not respect your opinion.

I read your post just fine, I know what "I" meant...as in your opinion...but that's not the point. Why did you make reference to "put my car away for 3 days" then?

I took that as you were mocking me for my 3 day reference not having air bags. If not, then it's my bad.

And since when is discussing the importance of having working safety features in your vehicle "whining"? Don't you think that's a bit harsh? I'm not the one attacking anyone about this...like you I'm only giving my opinion.

Airbags are a result of NHTSA and several professional alarmists attempting to deal with Survival Of The Minimally Adequate folks too stupid to use shoulder harnesses on vehicles with decent roll cages and crush structures.

Unfortunately, that leaves them in the gene pool where they reproduce.

That, April, sounds about right. I dunno if Jeep had spread info about a possible loose ground, but the first time it happened in June, my tech noted that the ground was moveable so he tightened it and put some sort of loctite on it.

It happened one more time since.

Wonder what the story was in Huntington Beach?
Caught speeding due to not paying attention to traffic around?
