Recall on the way ?

NBC News 10/01/2013

Chrysler is recalling more than 142,000 pickup trucks and SUVs worldwide because of software glitches that could affect instrument cluster lighting and braking systems.

Around 132,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs and 10,800 Ram pickup trucks from the 2014 model year are affected.

Chrysler said the Jeep's warning lights may randomly illuminate and its instrument cluster may black out. Since the same electronic module controls anti-lock braking and electronic stability control, those systems may also be affected.

According to Chrysler Recalling 142,000 Pickups, SUVs - ABC News, "Chrysler will notify owners next month. Dealers will reprogram the vehicles' software for free."

Re: Recall on the way ?

I wonder if this includes the "Christmas tree" dash issue for which they were changing abs modules?

Somebody had asked the dealer when they got the Christmas tree dash if their abs and airbags would work and the dealer said uhh probably. I bet they won't, hence the recall. At least I can hopefully get all the flash updates done along with this.

Re: Recall on the way ?

Looks to be related to the abs module. Chryslers release up above specifically mentions it.

I wonder if this could somehow effect the headlights. We randomly have issues with the headlights not coming on even with the switch in the headlight position.

Great...yet another trip back to the dealership...

I'm glad the company is finally doing something about this problem though. You still have a ways to go Chrysler, keep that midnight oil burning!

Re: Recall on the way ?

I posted this August 6

"Re: 2014 Jeep Overland- Dash lit up like a christmas tree, speedometer not working

Mine threw many codes, but the dash lights all went out after a few restarts. Jeep decided that the only thing that could cause so many errors and still have the car run would be a bad PCM. They changed it about 2500 miles ago and so far so good.

It could happen again at any time because they did just guess and not diagnose. But, I continued to drive the car while waiting for the part and everything was working.

Someday they will find the glitch is some program that can trigger this at any time and realize there was nothing wrong with all the parts they changed.

If they can guess, so can I."

Re: Recall on the way ?

What's the status on deploying this? Is there a TSB for it? I'm curious what Build dates it effects. Do you just have to wait for call?
