The average IQ is 100, so for every 140 driving around there are four 90's, or eight 95's. Smart folks are not simply outnumbered, but surrounded!

Re: Recirculating Cabin Air

I'm in a new 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland & completely agree with Eric. Seems like if I hit the recirculating air option, it should stay on until I turn it off. It's not like Jeep to make these decisions for me, and I am getting frustrated with having to keep an eye on the button every few minutes to make sure it's still on. This is my 3rd Jeep. Please Jeep, update your software to keep this option ON.

Agree-
Jeep: please update this software so diesel, skunks, and cigarette fumes can stay out until I tell them to.

Sorry but I have to say it... Its people like you that bitch and moan about every little thing that is killing America.. Who cares if the stupid recirculating button turns off after a while.. Push the button and turn it on again.. Who cares if u breath in some air from the outside.. Guess what.. As soon as u get out of your car you are going to breath that same air you are bitching about.. Gross some balls and deal with it..

Question: if you've driven any other car, did you happen to notice if it/they operated the same way where it automatically turns off?

Reason I ask: throughout the 50+ cars I've driven in my life only one of them has done this. And it's this Jeep.

Would you be satisfied with a car that automatically shut off its radio after playing 3 songs? How about it's wipers quitting after 10 minutes? I don't see how this issue is any different.

Bottom line: I just want what I'm use to - my car to do what I want when I want until I tell it otherwise.

It's a machine...

Re: Recirculating Cabin Air

My Buick Enclave and Pontiac Grand Prix also shut off recirculate after a period of time if the blend includes defrost.

Also, from '14 JGC manual:
"Recirculation:
When outside air contains smoke, odors, or
high humidity, or if rapid cooling is desired,
you may wish to recirculate interior air by
pressing the Recirculation control button. The
recirculation indicator will illuminate when this button is
selected. Push the button a second time to turn off the
Recirculation mode and allow outside air into the vehicle.
NOTE: In cold weather, use of Recirculation mode may
lead to excessive window fogging. The recirculation
feature may be unavailable (soft button greyed out) if
conditions exist that could create fogging on the inside of
the windshield. On systems with Manual Climate Controls,
the Recirculation mode is not allowed in Defrost
mode to improve window clearing operation. Recirculation
will be disabled automatically if this mode is selected.
Attempting to use Recirculation while in this mode will cause
the LED in the control button to blink and then turn off."

Re: Recirculating Cabin Air

I just verified the recirculation behavior in my 2014 EcoDiesel.

OAT: 20F

1. Auto mode: After about 10 minutes the function and light turned off automatically.
2. Manual mode in panel + foot setting: recirculation stayed on continuously for a 30 minute drive I did. Windshield started fogging up and recirculation mode was still on.
3. Switching to front defrost mode: Immediately ended recirculation mode.
