Red lighting bolt

I'm getting the red lighting bolt in my dash when I remote start the jeep. When you look through the drivers side window from the outside, you can see the bolt illuminated as the jeep is running in remote start mode. Once you open the door, the bolt goes away. The bolt illuminates only when I have park sense disabled and remote start. If park sense is enabled this doesn't happen. You think this is normal? Like I said, only happens when remote starting, looking from the outside, and having park sense turned off. Can anyone try it on their jeep and let me know if it does the same thing? Thanks.

Re: Red lighting bolt

This is what the owners manual says.

Quote:
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light

This light informs you of a problem with the
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. The
light will come on when the ignition is first
turned ON and remain on briefly as a bulb
check. If the light does not come on during starting, have
the system checked by an authorized dealer.
If a problem is detected, the light will come on while the
engine is running. Cycle the ignition key when the
vehicle has completely stopped and the shift lever is
placed in the PARK position. The light should turn off.
If the light remains lit with the engine running, your
vehicle will usually be drivable. However, see an authorized
dealer for service as soon as possible. If the light is
flashing when the engine is running, immediate service is
required. You may experience reduced performance, an
elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may
require towing.
Very strange that it would come on only when remote starting with park sense disabled. Personally I don't think I would worry about. I'll try and remember to try it and report back.

Re: Red lighting bolt

Personally I think you found a bug in the software. Not an issue, but something they didn't catch in recursive testing.
