That is very helpful - thanks! Still feels like I'm fighting the motor if I try to manually close, though.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

I have the 2014 Overland and have the same problem when using the remote to open the rear door.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Same issue. Hopefully TSB will be released to fix. I also have the lift gate out of alignment issue.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Does pulling the battery cable for an extended period of time reset any of these control modules like the one that I assume operates the power lift gate? Has anyone tried pulling the battery cable?

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Issue happens consistently on my Summit CRD too. Build date 10/1/13. I'll be opening a case with my dealer.

I tried this twice on my Summit, didn't help at all.

Having your dealer open a case with STAR will help. Wish more folks here would take the time to do it. The more complaints they get, the sooner they will find a cure. Last I heard from Chrylser, a S/W update isn't due till at the soonest the 2nd quarter of 2014, which in Chrysler speak means at least the 3rd quarter. But 2 months ago they told me it would be the 1st quarter of 2014. So obviously, they are in no hurry.

Come March, it will be 1 year that my Summit has exibited this problem.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

The fix will be ready when the next version of the owner's manual comes out. It will read;

"To open the lift gate using the fob, press the button 2 to 4 times."

Had they said that in the first place there would be no problem.

I just press unlock first and it seems to work accurately with 2 presses at that point

I thought you didn't even know the key fob had buttons other than start Bill?

Only from what I've read here. I do remember using that start button once to answer some question. Then I figured the easiest way for me and my Jeep to get along. I leave the fob in the top tray of the console and never lock the Jeep. When I get in I hit the Start button and eco button and I'm good to go.

So then I grab the shifter, miss reverse and wind up in neutral, then push if forward into reverse. After backing into the street I try to shift into "D", but the shifter usually stops in neutral. A second attempt gets me into "D" and I'm in great shape all the way to my first destination.

After I do my shopping I still struggle to get the flipper glass to open, so I throw everything in the back seat.

The best thing about driving the Jeep, now that I turned off HD;
