So then I grab the shifter, miss reverse and wind up in neutral, then push if forward into reverse. After backing into the street I try to shift into "D", but the shifter usually stops in neutral. A second attempt gets me into "D" and I'm in great shape all the way to my first destination.

After I do my shopping I still struggle to get the flipper glass to open, so I throw everything in the back seat.

The best thing about driving the Jeep, now that I turned off HD;

Love it!

I would believe all of that except... your first destination is the beach, so if you had have said you struggled with the flipper glass to get your rods in, I would have bought right in

My tailgate came from the factory with what seems to be perfect alignment.
I've been experiencing the same problem with my Limited since June. So far, the dealer has replaced what they call the Liftgate Module and the Main Control Module. Today marks the 5th time the dealer has worked on it and they are telling me that I will get it back tomorrow with a solution.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

my Summit has almost always taken 2x2 clicks.....dealer has no idea how to fix...one way to get 4 clicks down to at least 3 is unlock door with one then lift gate opens with 2 but it upsets me that a $52000 car doesn't work as it should.

I have a 2014 Overland that behaves the same way after sitting for a while. I suspect the 2x2 click after the jeep sits is caused because the fob has to "wake" up the jeep from sleep mode. That is why the second set of clicks works.

After the jeep has been running or acknowledges the fob it works flawlessly on 2 clicks.

I suspect that your analysis is spot on! Problem is, dealers don't know how to fix it and I believe that Jeep chooses not to fix it due to high cost. As I said, my dealer promised me a solution by today. We'll see what happens but I'm not holding my breath since they told me they can't fix my satellite radio either BTW, there is a Limited sitting in my dealer's showroom with a power liftgate that works flawlessly.

Yep I bet it is not an easy fix since it is in the softwear or antennae or both. Good luck!

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Just got it back. Still no joy! Dealer says that Jeep is sending a Tech Guru from Boston and that Jeep is committed to fixing it.

I've had this problem for 19 months now. BCM, PLGM, and some other module changed along with hours of diagnostic labor done. For some reason, the first 2 clicks only wakes up the modules in the vehicle, the signal then is apparently not giving the signal to open the liftgate. That then requires another 2 clicks. I even had my dealer send STAR videos taken by me of the problem. Still doesn't operate correctly. Jeep says they are still looking for a cure, but I don't think they really know how to look for the problem.

I know others will say so what, but on a vehicle that cost $50,000, this to me is unacceptable. IF anyones dealer comes up with a cure, let us know.

Jeep engineer has now spent a few hours on the problem and says that they might have to issue a software update to resolve the issue.

Dealer called today to confirm that Jeep will be releasing a software update to fix this issue.

Question is how long will they take to release this update????
Please keep me updated if they come out with an update that cures the problem. My dealer called me last week and stated that what I said a year ago is now true. Chrysler now states that the liftgate/keyfob is "Operating as Designed". Wrong answer. I suppose that's why the owners manual and the icon on the keyfob show 2X to operate the liftgate. Not 4X. They are just tired of spending time changing modules hoping for a miracle cure. They never spent ANY time diagnosing the problem.

This Jeep engineer stated that this is not operating as designed and after replacing all the hardware components associated with the power liftgate he concluded that it is a software issue. He stated that this has become a personal challenge and that he intends to see it through but could not commit to a specific time frame.
