Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

LEDs cannot take momentary overvoltage like a bulb can. Am just hearing a lot of things with '14s that could be explained by an unstable 12v system.

I was at the dealer last night as my Mother-in-law is going to also buy a 2014 Overland and I was showing her the rear hatch power gate via the remote from about 50' away. I told her you have to click it 4 times instead of the 2 like the picture on the remote shows. The sales guy standing next to us gave me a really strange look, LOL. I didn't bother to explain it to him.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

On the other hand, the liftgate on my 2014 JGC Limited opens (and closes) with just two clicks on the fob button. I find I do have just a bit of a lag between clicks and liftgate action.

Go figure....

I think the lag is normal. It is used to start the warning beep before it opens the gate. If you turn off the warning beep it might still use the same delay before it opens the gate but just doesn't sound the beep.

I always try 2 clicks first. Sometimes (50/50) it works and sometimes it doesn't. Occasionally it takes 3 instead of four.

Of course when my brain is working I leave the fob in my pocket and just touch the handle.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

My dealer told me "you have to unlock first then double click" this is a feature which will prevent you from accidentally opening the rear gate while the keyfob is in your pocket or from accidental presses from say a child.

So I gave up, instead of 2x 2x , I do 1x 2x. hey it takes 1x out of the equation,

I really love this vehicle, this is my first Jeep ever, I love driving it I love being inside of it ( I know that just sounded weird but oh well) I just would love if all the weirdness would go away.

Thanks, at least it's a reasonable explanation and it works.

No doubt instead of Chrysler figuring out the fix, they will just change the procedure in the owners manual to 1 click to unlock doors, then 2 clicks on the liftgate button. A lot cheaper to go that route. But I've noticed that sometimes the liftgate button on the overhead console doesn't open the liftgate with 1 press of the button. So that must be connected with the keyfob not opening the liftgate problem.

Like others have said, the 2014's have quite a few gremlins throughout the vehicle which hopefully Chrysler will figure out by the 2015 model year. Just doesn't do us early adopters much good right now.

One thing I noticed is that if you do not have it in Park even though you got the brake on, the gate will not open from inside the console guess another safety measurement.

My friend's Buick Enclave is like that.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Range is my issue. Mine only seems to work from about 20 feet away or closer.
