Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

Sometimes it takes three clicks for me, sometimes four. I've learned to just click it at a steady rate until it opens.

That's what I wind up doing on the rare occasions I use the remote. Since I don't have to take a key out of my pocket to start the car, I don't take the fob out to open the gate. I just touch the handle when I reach the Jeep.

Being retired, I can spare the 5 to 7 seconds waiting for it to open. Rainy days care the exception.

Yeah, I've only used the remote to open the tailgate three or four times. I rarely use the remote for anything and just keep it in my pocket. Sometimes I'll use it to remote start the car, but that's about it.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

I sure hope that everyone who is having to 3 or 4 click the remote to get the liftgate to open are having their dealers write up a work order so Chrysler realizes that most of the 2014's have this problem. But I have a feeling most are not taking the time to complain, so its certainly not getting much attention from Chrysler.

Good Point Bob, Standing there and being frustrated about it won't get it fixed... I haven't seen any mention of it in notes so I would say it is low on the priority scale.

When anyone goes in for maintenance make sure they add it to the work order. Also as a note, it more accurately does it if the vehicle has been sitting for 15 minutes prior to doing this. I know one other member said that the dealer could not replicate but that advice will help.

Re: Remote Liftgate Opening

When this issue first came up I would open the gate every day just to see if there was a pattern and found none. Whether it was first thing in the morning after sitting all night, whether the doors were locked or unlocked, which ever fob I used, it randomly took 2, 3, or 4 clicks. Then I put the fob in my pocket and left it there.

I will not mention it to my dealer. If I did, somebody might try to fix it.

I really don't see it as a big deal. If I hadn't read about it here, on those occasions when I used the fob I would have just pressed it until the gate opened without giving it a second thought.

Everybody has different priorities. Counting clicks is way at the bottom of my list.

While I completely understand your position on the issue, I would ask that people who are mad about it make sure they do properly document it.

As far is the issue of it not doing it randomly I found that in some cases it worked okay shortly after shutting the vehicle off so I was really just giving information to rule out that possibility.

Very frankly since I started driving a Chrysler product with the passive entry I don't even remember what the looks like other than needing to switch it from one set of pockets to another. Maybe come the cooler weather I will care a little bit more when I actually start using the remote start on some sort of regular basis.

Have fun fishing Bill!

Mine does the same thing, once the canbus system goes to sleep (after 15 minutes or so), you need to give it an extra click or two. If I hit unlock first, it works on 2 clicks (assume this is because it's awoken from it's slumber). I wonder if there is just an coding error in that the liftgate signal does not get the same "WAKE UP!!!" priority as lock/unlock, which always responds first click.

If the lift gate is left open for long periods of time it sometimes has to be closed manually. I run into that once in a while in my driveway, and on the beach. This is normal according to the owners manual.

Today, on the beach, it was open for four hours and closed with the button in the back. Go figure.

Thanks Wills. I only caught one fish, but it was still a good morning.

It's probably just going to require a S/W update to get the liftgate to open with 2 clicks.

THE problem is that hardly anyone bothers to mention it to the dealer so that Chrysler will actually spend some time figuring out what is required to make it work as designed.

Honestly, I think it would work better to mass email chrysler customer care, I'm fairly certain many dealers would not bother forwarding the concern and I seriously doubt they data mine all of the free text on the repair orders.

Contacting chrysler direct gets a CRM case assigned and those generally they need to categorize to close out in the system.

I'll make a point to send a note to them tomorrow, just for you Bob.
