Remote start air control

A few months ago I purchased a 2014 JGC limited with the ecodiesel. The JGC has remote start that is supposed to cool down the vehicle before I get there.

However, I notice that when I use the remote start and hop into my car the air is hardly blowing. As soon as I push the start button the auto ac turns on full blast without issue. Is there a setting I'm supposed to turn on somewhere?

There is new HVAC software out that fixes a few issues including the AC remote start thing, your dealer can tell you if they apply to you or you can sift through the TSBs if you want to read about them.

Re: Remote start air control

I got the software update a few weeks ago at the local dealer. After I drove off the lot the auto a/c wouldn't even turn on, had to drive back and they did a "hard reset" to get it to work. The other day while out and about the auto a/c didn't turn on again. Once I turned off the vehicle and on again it worked fine.

The remote start with auto a/c still doesn't work though. Maybe I should take it back in.

i would take it back.. but before you do...

set the truck to... like 68 and make sure auto is on

do a remote start and look in the window (dont grab the handle/unlock) you should be able to tell that its on auto is on and it should say 72 on the screen. It WONT do any setting but 72 degrees for remote.

Re: Remote start air control

I do miss my old vehicle for the ability to leave the AC on whatever setting I want, two way remote to tell me it's running, interior temp monitor and unlimited restarts. I take my black lab everywhere with me and if I don't have a close parking spot, it's a PITA checking on him.
I leave it on "Lo" temp, auto and it's plenty cool, approx 70, for my pup even on a hot/sunny day. I just remote start the Jeep after I park and set my phone timer for 20 minutes to go back and check on him and restart. Easiest if my wife and I can find a close parking spot and a restaurant with a seat overlooking the street.

...seriously? if You are going ANYWHERE where you need to leave a dog in the car, then leave the dog at home. The dog doesnt NEED to come along. What if it malfunctions and shuts off 2 minutes after you walk away? I have 3 dogs, and unless the destination is the vet, groomers, or petco.. they stay home.

Fyi....remote start is 10 mins on gas engines and 15 with diesel. So you are risking ur dogs life thinking its 20.

Agree with other poster......leave your dog at home.

Re: Remote start air control

Not to worry, I'm always close and very careful to check on him. If I would be uncomfortable, it's too hot/cold for him. Spring and fall road trips are best. He loves to ride and hates to be home alone. I will check on the run time of the remote start though. Thanks.

Edit- noticed yours is a '14. Probably different menu from mine. Still, in the EVIC there is a setting to turn it on and off.
In your manual look up “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)/Customer-Programmable Features (SETUP)” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel”.
