I'm with you, this Houston heat is killing me. At least my jeep is always garaged but its still damn hot......display said 109 when I left work yesterday.

I don't know about everyone else but my temp gauge seems to be on the high side.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Upon further inspection, I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else. On remote start, the fans are blowing but the AC doesn't really turn on until I unlock the door (touch the door handle). I tried it by setting the AC on manual, and noticed the AC light didn't come on even though the blowers were going. Also, I think the ventilated seats also only turns on when I unlock the car. It's funny how this operations seems to defeat half the purpose of having a remote start - being able to cool the car down before the driver enters the car. Oh well, wait for the August (?) software patch.

I believe it's normal for the A-C indicator light to not come on until you enter the vehicle. Obviously the A-C should be on upon remote start. The best way to test would be by leaving the drivers window down, remote start the vehicle, and check if there is cold air blowing out the vents.

My A-C now works properly even though the indicator is not lit.

The ventilated seats should activate above 80 degrees ambient temperature.

So my 2011 was working as indicated just remote starting it the Controls would start and be in the last place I left them manual or auto. That was before they changed my HVAC control center due to scratching it during service so they swapped mine with a 2012's.

So now when I remote start the jeep, if in manual mode nothing comes on and the temp controls and display aren't even lit up. The cooled seats however do come on. Now if i leave the ac in auto mode on lets say 64 then I remote start it the AC light isn't on and the display doesn't light up, but I can feel cold air coming out of the vents.

Very odd, also when the hvac controls are in manual walking up to the door handle to unlock the jeep doesn't engage the AC either only when i get into the jeep and I press the start button does the AC come on and the temp display lights up then the AC becomes Engaged.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I just had remote start added to my 2012 Laredo with the Auto climate control and when i remote start it, the air turns on and starts blowing cold air immediately at the last setting it was on, and it is cold when i get into the car. I don't have keyless go so i don't know if that matters or not.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I looked quickly in the owners manual and didn't see where it said the comfort remote start would actually turn the a/c back on. It does mention the heated seats and steering wheel in cold weather. So is it actually mentioned in the om?

No it's not mentioned as far as I know.

The "remote start comfort system" is not the same as remote start.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Yesterday, I finally happened to travel to an area where it was 87 degrees. After my GC was parked for over an hour in the sun, I figured I should see if the remote start comfort system will automatically turn the a/c and ventilated driver seat on. After the engine started, I heard the a/c compressor click on which is a good sign. Without unlocking the vehicle, I looked in and could see that the a/c light and the drivers seat ventilation light were both lit. I then unlocked the vehicle, opened the door and could feel that the air coming out the vents was cold and after sitting in drivers seat, I could tell the ventilated seat was cooling the seat. I then pressed the start/stop button and both items kept working as they should.

Now, before I turned off the vehicle after parking it for this test, I made sure that the ventilated driver seat was on and I happened to have the a/c position in full cool temp in manual control. So it seems like mine is working correctly.

Try it with the window down so you can confirm it's blowing cold air. It's August and no news of a fix yet, for the ones that do not work as expected anyway.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Is there anything i can have done to get my AC and Heat working with my remote starter? I have a 2012 grande cherokee lorado, base model with the automatic remote start, i am working with a lemon law lawyer now, if you have 2-3 service slips for the issue, you have a case against chrysler for false advertising. I talked with the dealer and some of them had no idea why it wouldnt work including the salesman to sold it. I specifically asked for this feature.

All,

A software update to the HVAC module is being worked on at this time. Below is the bulletin regarding the issue. I will post it here when the update is released.

Release Date: 06/25/2012
Symptom/Vehicle Issue: No A/C Operation When Using Remote Starting System

Diagnosis:
Customer may complain of no A/C cooling when using the remote starting system. This is most noticed on vehicles equipped with ATC system. This concern will be resolved with a software update to the HVAC control module. Estimated availability of software update is 08/13/2012.
