Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Just tried my 2012 out.
Manual controls with the dials.
Started with remote start...air blew out cold but the light for the a/c was not on..but air was definitely as cold as when I hit the start button and the a/c light came on. So I'm guessing the light is on par with the rest of the electronics when the start button is hit. For example the auto headlights are out until I hit the start button then they come on. Thought I would add my $0.02

Yes, this is normal operation.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

That's odd, these past few days, when I am doing this, I am feeling colder air when I stepped inside my Jeep.

Just a wild guess here, but maybe it has something to do with the fact you are in Saskatchewan http://www.weather.com/weather/right-now/CAXX0442:1

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Hi All.
I have a 2 week old 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X with Remote Start, Keyless Enter & Go, and Auto Climate control. The Car has a built date of May 2012. I have tested this for both AC and Heat. Non of these turn on when using remote start, even when i set desired tempatures beyond normal. But the HVAC does turn on as soon as i open the drivers side door only. I will be bringing to the dealer this week to see what of if they have a fix. Definitely not the way it is supposed to work and to me, sounds like a SW issue where remote start is not signaling the HVAC to turn on. At least that is what i hope.

Surprised we haven't seen a TSB for this yet. The temps outside are getting colder, and if the a/c doesn't work when it's remote started, I imagine the heat won't either. Not gonna be fun in winter!

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Just my 2 copper, I finally got around to trying this and since it was 90+ on saturday, it did not blow cold air. Just blew in more hot air. I let it run for 4-5 minutes before I entered, and there wasn't a cool air stream to be felt.

I didn't notice if it got cool when I hit the door handle, seeing as though it got cold a ~min after I started it.

Not really bummed since I usually drive with the windows down, since I love the smell of the ocean. But yea, it should work either way.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I can only comment on my Jeep but this past spring the heat was working with the remote start. My AC this past summer hasn't worked with the remote start. Not real happy that it's taken Jeep over 3 months and the problem still isn't resolved. At least the heat works.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Taking in my 2012 Altitude to Jeep dealer north of Chicago tomorrow 2012-09-19 for AC not turning on when remote starting. Will be taking information regarding software update and TIPM to dealer as evidence. Will update thread with what happens and what the dealership says.

Anyone know of the specific update that I should tell the dealer to check for?

Sidenote, also taking the Jeep in because it pulls to the left super hard on the highway. Need to get that fixed ASAP. These dealerships seem to barely be prepping the cars when they are delivered. So bogus. Of course, this is all my fault for leaving the dealership and not having corrected right away -- was too stoked about the car.
