Re: Remote Start Climate Control

+1 My Jeeps autostart does not cool the cabin until I hit the ignition switch. Bummer since I live in Texas, at least we are through the heat now. It is extremely frustrating Chrysler is taking such a long time to come up with a fix...

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

After speaking with corporate back and forth about this they were able to offer me some free oil changes for my inconvenience...doesn't fix the problem but saves me some money.

He said they had no update as to when the fix would be released but that they were working on something.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

From the 2012 Owner's Manual Page 33:

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When remote start is activated, the heated steering
wheel, and driver heated seat features will automatically
turn on in cold weather. In warm weather, the driver
vented seat feature will automatically turn on when the
remote start is activated. These features will stay on
through the duration of remote start or until the ignition
switch is turned to the ON/RUN position.
The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated and
deactivated through the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC). For more information on Remote Start
Comfort System operation refer to “Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC)/Customer-Programmable
Features (SETUP)” in “Understanding Your Instrument
Panel”.

The GC determines cold and warm weather based on the external temperature sensor (the same one that provides the reading for temp in the EVIC, located in the front of the GC, behind the grille). There is a time lag for the sensor to read and update the exterior temperature. Therefore, at remote start, the sensor reading is what it was when you last parked and shut off your GC (look at your EVIC reading after you start your GC, the temp takes a while to change to actual current exterior temperature). In cold weather (approx 40 deg F or less on the sensor) your heated seats, rear window defogger, etc will turn on. In warm weather (approx 80 deg F or more on the sensor), the ventilated seat turns on and the AC will turn on if the dash control was in Auto or Manual AC when you turned it off.

So, yes, the external sensors determine which features will be on or off using remote start (comfort system - EVIC - if set). As soon as you hit the start button upon entry into your GC, the dash controls take over.

Information based on discussion with the dealer, mechanics and a lot of trial and error since it is not well detailed in the owners manual. This is how it works on my GC.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

That explains remote start comfort system and EVIC. Our problem is the HVAC and remote start.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even think of highlighting the text. You might say I overlooked the obvious.

TSB covering A/C not working with Remote Start is set for release in a couple of weeks (2011-2012 GC/Durango models).
