Re: Remote Start Climate Control

The AC TSB will be issued just in time for winter. If they do a Heating TSB, it will issued by next summmer...

Actually, mine works fine. Hope this cures the situation for most folks. I guess it takes parking in heated/cooled garages at both home and work to understand how the exterior temperature sensor works and how it effects the AC starting in the summer and the seats/steering wheel/rear defroster in the winter.

Best luck.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I can't believe this has yet to be addressed. The temps were in the mid 40's this morning and I would have loved to slide into a warm cabin. I never knew leather could be so damn cold!

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

It has to be below 40 degs F for the heated seats, steering wheel & rear defroster to turn on (and you have to set it up to do so using the Comfort Option in the EVIC). For the summer AC and ventilated front seats, it has to be above 80 degs F:

2012 GC Owners Manual, Page 33:

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When remote start is activated, the heated steering
wheel, and driver heated seat features will automatically
turn on in cold weather. In warm weather, the driver
vented seat feature will automatically turn on when the
remote start is activated. These features will stay on
through the duration of remote start or until the ignition
switch is turned to the ON/RUN position.
The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated and
deactivated through the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC). For more information on Remote Start
Comfort System operation refer to “Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC)/Customer-Programmable
Features (SETUP)” in “Understanding Your Instrument

Panel”

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

You are referring to the "remote start comfort system". The issue here is the remotes start "climate control" and is not governed by ambient temperature.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

No wonder the remote start works correctly on mine since it was built in 11/2011.

For your build date, just look on the door decal.

So does this mean they finally have a fix for it or that they just know about it?

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I took mine and they performed the fix (software flash). The service manager and tech seem to think it messed up my remote start climate control. They said they had it set on A/C and the defroster came on when they remotely started it. I am not sure whether or not they are familiar with how it should work. The temps here were in the high 40s when they were working on it. They are going to contact Chrysler to get to the bottom of it.

I did some testing of my own and could not replicate the issues they found. I am inclined to think that they were confused or are not sure how it is supposed to function. When I remote start it with the climate control set to AUTO, it worked as if I was sitting in the car. The compressor came on (it was in the sun and warm inside) and started to get to my set temperature of 70. I will be able to tell more as time goes on. It may not be hot enough here to fully test for some time, however.
