Re: Remote Start Climate Control

My dad's 2011 WK2 works fine. Also, when I went to the dealer with this issue, I had them get the keys to other WK2's on the lot and they all worked fine (AC came on with remote start, it was summer time).

I've read every page and post in this thread and I still don't have a clear answer to my question

Has anyone in any year WK2 been able to get their remote start to turn on the HVAC system BEFORE opening the door. I'm not asking about the remote start comfort system responding to set temps and activating cooled/heated seats. I have been to the dealership and they told me that my system is working properly but if i leave my heater or AC on and then remote start my car the heater or AC will only turn back on after opening the door, I can't imagine why anyone would design a system to work this way.

i've had the TSB referenced in this thread done and at proper temps my ac/heat kick in via the "remote start comfort system"

Is there any way to get my heat or AC to kick in with my last settings when using remote start regardless of temp BEFORE opening the door. Before opening the door I get nothing coming from the vents but after opening the door everything turns on as I left it.

Here's what I found after taking a quick look through the previous posts in this thread:

As stated by Chrysler. "The HVAC system should return to the function you left the system on, when the vehicle was last shut off. If it does not resume function, this is an issue."

The Remote start comfort system does not determine when the heat and/or AC is activated.

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When remote start is activated, the heated steering
wheel, and driver heated seat features will automatically
turn on in cold weather. In warm weather, the driver
vented seat feature will automatically turn on when the
remote start is activated. These features will stay on
through the duration of remote start or until the ignition
switch is turned to the ON/RUN position.
The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated and
deactivated through the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC). For more information on Remote Start
Comfort System operation refer to “Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC)/Customer-Programmable Features
(SETUP)” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel”.

If the TSB did not correct your issue, it's possible the HVAC Control Module or the TIPM might be the problem.

I realize there is a lot to read in this thread, but at least one poster had the HVAC module replaced and the issue was fixed. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) replacement resolved the issue for me.

Good luck.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Remote start, let run a few minutes. Then enter from the passenger side door. You will find that the system stays in remote start mode vs opening the drivers side door. Then check to see if you are getting any heat or AC (depending on time of year).

Mine works fine, except the rear window defroster always turns on (winter or summer, no matter the temperature).

And yes, the outside sensor behind the grill is used in the control logic, and it uses the last temperature when you last parked/turned your GC off. It takes quite a while for it to sense and change to the current temperature that it may be at when you remote start it. It takes at least 1 minute to start changing, and 2-3 to be accurate. This matters if there is a temperature change from when you parked it to when you are remote starting it. From the owners manual:

NOTE:
The system will use the last known outside
temperature when starting the vehicle and may need to
be driven several minutes before the temperature
updates or the EVIC display changes. Engine temperature
can also affect the temperature; therefore, temperature
is not updated when the vehicle is not moving.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Ever since the new flash mine has been working fine. I have noticed that the rear ac does not kick on until you turn the car on though...just the front ac system works with remote start...i assume this is the way it is supposed to work!

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Hi all this is a follow up to my post back on 12-7-2012. The TSB has corrected my issue. I recently tested whether the AC would kick on with remote start. We had a very hot week, temps around 90 degrees. It worked. SO my appears to have been corrected by the TSB.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

My dealer was completely unfamiliar with the TSB, but when I provided a copy of it for their use, they reflashed my truck and it works fine now.
