Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Dealer said they couldn't figure out what was wrong so they opened a Starbase (spelling) case or something like that. They said they are hoping to hear back something by tomorrow afternoon.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

Just got my Durango back...tested it in the parking lot and everything seemed to be in working order. They told me they reflashed everything...here is what is written in the notes on the service reciept:

982 TIPM needs to be reconfigured 0.20 Checked vehicle A/C functionality when using remote start, found that the A/C system will intermittently be unfunctional until key is inserted into the ignition. Checked for TSB's and Star cases related to this concern. Reflashed the WCM, TIPM, and PCM modules and performed the program network configuration procedureand the A/C system is now cooling every time when using the remote start function.

they told me to test it over the weekend and to let them know if this did not fix the issue. The tech that worked on it said he hoped this helps and he thanked me for bringing in some notes that i found from different forums so he could test what others had done to remedy the issue. I have high hopes for Rob Lambdins University Dodge in Davie FL!

Certainly hope so! Not real sure what's helpful about having hot air blowing around inside the GC and through the seat for 10 minutes before I get in.
ask them to explain why a wk1 system cools upon remote start (at hi fan reguardless of actual setting) and the new and improved wk2 dosent its total bullcrap they are feeding you

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I emailed Chrysler yesterday, asking why a remote start whose 'normal operation' doesn't affect interior temperature is a feature I need. I also asked why others' TIPMs were replaced to resolve this problem but that wasn't offered as an solution in my case.

I have a copy of my dealer's conversation with Chrysler, in which the dealer told the Chrysler agent that they tried another 2012 GC on the lot (at the agent's suggestion) and it functioned the same as mine "but we know that's not right. Any suggestions?" That's when the Chrysler agent said that this is considered normal operation "for now."

So I do think pursing it with Chrysler is probably my best route now. You all have any advice on that front?

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I found that you really need a dealer who is willing to go to work for you and not quit when Chrysler says it's normal. It took a while to finally get mine fixed and I credit my dealer for their persistence with Chrysler.

My service manager has to contact Chrysler when they can't figure out a problem on their own. I would imagine it's the same for all service departments.

Keep in mind that there have been at least three different solutions to the same climate control problem according to this thread. Just because the TIPM replacement corrected my problem, it doesn't mean it will correct others.

That's something that has puzzled me from the beginning, when there were two solutions -- TIPM and the HVAC control. My husband and I talked about whether something else was being reset as a side effect of those parts being replaced, meaning the process required to replace the parts is actually what's fixing the problem. Now that 2012sxt has reported his fix involved so many more reflashes than were suggested to my dealer, I'm wondering again.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I have been thinking the same thing as you, MaryGarri. I also think that, at this point in time, Chrysler must be more aware of this problem than they lead on to be. Perhaps they now figured out the re-flash (2012sxt) will solve the problem. There are several Star cases related to this concern. Obviously, the re-flash must be cheaper than parts replacement.

Re: Remote Start Climate Control

I won't be able to take mine in until after the holiday weekend. Until then, I'm stuck with hot air.
