Remote Start Climate Control

Have a strange issue. The AC compressor will not engage when the GC is started with remote start. The weird thing is, once you open the door, that engages the compressor and within 30 seconds the air starts to cool off. Tried in manual mode and auto climate control mode to no avail. The dealer states that it's a known issue on some GC's, but there is no fix. Anyone have this issue at all? It's annoying that I purchased a vehicle with features I can't use.

I have a 2012 Limited. My dad has a 2011 Overland and his works. The dealer first tried to tell me that it's working as expected, and it won't cool off in auto mode. My Liberty had auto climate and would cool off with remote start. So, I had them check other GC's on the lot and they realized mine has an issue. Yeah, the no fix answer is bull. So I have to wait until chrysler puts out a flash update for it?

why should you have to wait tell them to start replacing parts or start crediting your monthly payments for the inconvience. you paid for remote start with cooling and heating and it should work. you should consider speaking to another dealer if they are giving you the runaround

Exact same thing happens on my 2012. Yesterday I was checking out at a store and started the vehicle with the remote. Took us about 5 minutes to get out to it and was surprised when I opened the door and the fan was blowing at full speed but no cold air was coming out. I pushed the start button and immediately felt the AC kick in. Remembering this thread I tried repeating this at home that night. Started the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes. Opened the door and again the fan was on full but no cold air. Pushed the start button and felt the AC come on.

I've also experienced this as well. Will remote start the WK2 with the air set on auto to 70 and when I get in 5-10 min later its not even cold. Plan on calling the dealer this week but fearful of them not providing a solution to the problem.

So get this guys, mine is doing the same thing, and you'll never guess what I was told.
"The air conditioning will not come on when the vehicle is remote started, and neither will the heater. EVER. The ventilated/heated seats will engage, as will the heated steering wheel depending on temperature."
I looked at him with amazement, and said
"So I've bought a 48 thousand dollar vehicle with remote start. And it won't cool/heat itself even If I leave the A/C or heater on when I get out?"
And the response?
"Yep"
There's got to be something done about this.

That's the same answer my dealer gave me, so I had them get the keys to another GC on the lot to test. The other GC with the same auto system worked fine. After that they admitted it's a problem but have no fix. My Jeep liberty with auto controls worked fine. My wifes 200 with the same auto system works fine.

I'm a little amazed that any dealer would tell you that the lack of cooling or heating is the way it's supposed to be.

For the record, my 2012 JGC Overland's remote works as it should. When it's cold, it starts heating and it turns the driver's seat heater to the low position. When it's hot, the A/C kicks on and the ventilated seat is set to the low position.

Anyone who tries to tell you that it designed to operate any differently is full of it.

My 2012 JGC Overland's remote start turns on the steering wheel heater, the driver's seat heater to high and the rear defroster when it is cold. I have not tried it when hot. why yours turns on the seat to low and mine to high is a mystery. Also, why does it turn on my rear defroster??

Is there a way to modify the features that are turned on when you remote start. --- in a service menu perhaps.??

I just double checked mine, rolled down the passenger window, and set the A/C to max, then shut it off, got out and remote started. Put my hand over the vent... Nothing at all. And the display screen for the climate is blank like the vehicle is off. Until you touch the driver door handle, then the A/C comes on.

Long-shot here, but is it possible the Remote Start Comfort System needs to be activated through the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).

I realize the Remote Start Comfort System technically should only control the heated steering wheel, and driver heated seat features in cold weather and in warm weather, the driver vented seat feature.

If the A-C problem is due to some sort of glitch, perhaps it is related to the EVIC setting for the Remote Start Comfort System.

Do you guys who are having problems have the Remote Start Comfort System activated?

I am going to the second dealer tomorrow. I don't expect any resolution. I do need them to look at an issue with the ac though. On most days, in auto or manual mode it just doesn't get as cold as you would expect. It even will suddenly get warm for a second then go back to cool.

Holy Hell this is weird, mine does the EXACT same thing. In fact, that's what i went into the dealership today for mainly, and discovered the remote start issue just before i went in. Seriously exactly the same issues. haha And today they told me "feels cold enough to me" and didn't do a thing.

My 2012 does not have this issue. I have noticed using remote start that the A/C will be working and the seat cooling is on low when I get in. I noticed the seat cooling mainly because with the black interior in west Texas you can tell when the cooling has been working and when it has just started. The A/C will have the cabin cooled down quite a bit in a few minutes.

Add me to the list with the A/C issue. When remote started, the fan is blowing with no compressor for cooling until I hit the push to start. Also noticed the air is not as cold at times. This is a big deal for me living in SE Texas. I feel myself constantly adjusting the vents thinking I'm just not getting the air.

I really hope there is a fix for this. Maybe Milous or someone with inside info can fill us in on whether it's a known issue with a TSB in the works.

I need to swing by the dealership this week and will check on other GC's on the lot.
