Remote Start factory vs. accessory version. Very odd

Hi Guys,

With the recent cold weather in New England I've had a few opportunities to use the remote start. I've only gotten 281 operating distance out of the factory unit. This was direct line of sight and I tried both FOBS with the same results. I thought the distance was 800 feet but then I realized I had only read that in the Accessories guide. Not the Owners Manual.

Owners Manual --> The factory installed system says REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM — IF EQUIPPED This system uses the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter to start the engine conveniently from outside the vehicle while still maintaining security. The system has a range of approximately 300 ft (91 m).

Accessories guide --> The accessory version is 800 feet. "OEM tested remote start system that allows you to start your vehicle from as far away as 800 feet" Production Remote Start Kit 82212137 2.0 $259.00

ok well this is weird but belive it or not i tried it and it works hold the fob to the bottom of your chin as though you were going to try and push it up thru your jaw, sensor facing your jaw and operate the buttons, guess somehow youre body acts as an anttenna it will increase the distance

Re: Remote Start factory vs. accessory version. Very odd

Thanks Kennzz05 had heard and actully tried it before. I've been researching this and apparantly the Accessory version has a extended range antenna thats mounted behind the glove compartment door.

Seeing I already have the remote start, I'm trying to figure out if I can just order the extended range antenna, cable and plug it into the WINs.
