I had 2008 Ford Explorer for 6 year and till the moment I sold it; it was much quieter than my current 2014 GC Limited, could it be the tires? I have the factory installed, Michelin P265/60R18 BSW AS On/Off Road Tires.
The radio sound becomes so annoying when the road sound is mixed with it, I either end up with raising the volume to a level that i don't really want or just turn it off.

I noticed an improvement in road noise once I made the switch from the factory Michelin Latitudes to the Michelin LTX on my prior Jeep which was a 2011 JGC with 18's. The factory Latitudes have been known to wear out fast too.
With that said- I've never been "bothered" by road noise in either my '11 or my 2015 limited.

I have a 2014 Limited with the 18 inch wheels and got 48,000 miles out of the Latitudes. They were so smooth and quiet, and lasted, that I put another identical set on. This is the quietest car I have owned in recent memory.....maybe you have another issue? Wheel bearings of course shouldn't be bad on something that new, but just one bad one can produce a rumbling/low roar that would sound like road noise.

I should add I thought about the LTX MS2's too, I had them on an Infiniti QX56 and they completely transformed that vehicle....rode so much smoother and quieter. They just looked too "trucky" to me for the JGC but that's purely subjective. It's a good tire. For smooth and quiet AVOID just plain LTX (a truck/cutaway van tire) or LTX A/T (mild off road tire).
