Not sure if you know so pardon this if you already know...

You have to upload to a site like photobucket first then copy the image location to the thread and it will show.

No you don't. Once you start a reply, look at the "Attach Files" button. But there may be a minimum number of posts you must have made before this is allowed.

Re: Rock kicked up on highway - this is what it did

The issue with the paint damage is more that if there is any damage the paint may split and crack when they do the PDR repair...

You are both right... Andrew there are pretty strict size limits o if you want to show a photo of a decent quality photobucket or Flickr are best. If you want to upload a low res pic of your ride you can attach files.

Re: Rock kicked up on highway - this is what it did

So after looking at it i realize its not so bad, and the pic attached makes it look worse.. the rugged lines where the second e were are actually glue, so the paint isnt chipped, i found a guy who said, by looking at the picture, that he could knock the dent out for 100 bucks. I bought the Jeep nameplate today at the dealer and when i put the e's up they make the dent look almost unnoticeable.. i will see what the paintless dent guy says on friday.. kills me tho, car is only 2 months old...

Re: Rock kicked up on highway - this is what it did

That's terrible. Maybe your insurance would cover it? Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

Of if a truck caused it, try calling the trucking company if you can figure that out. Around here, where there are a number of crushed stone quarries, if one of the trucks causes stone damage the quarry the truck came from will see that the repair costs are completely covered.

Re: Rock kicked up on highway - this is what it did

They might be able to PDR that. I would definitely take it to a couple PDR guys and see what they think.

Um...the hood doesn't come painted. You'd have to buy a bare hood, then repaint the whole thing, my concern there would be paint match. With this repair they would flush out the dent, colorcoat the area thats effected, blend that color into the rest of the hood, then re-clear the whole hood, so you'd have no issue at the bodylines with paint matching.

Replacing the hood would be way more expensive and I don't think the end result would be as good.

You gotta let bodywork guys do their thing.

Re: Rock kicked up on highway - this is what it did

I just went out and looked at mine. It doesn't look like access is impossible, but they'd have to drill the underside of the hood to get their tools in there.

The real question is how bad is the paint damaged as to whether it can be PDR'd or not.

EDIT...just saw your later post, thats great that the paint isn't scratched. I bet it can be PDR'd for $100-$150. No PDR person here has ever quoted me less than $100 for any ding.
