Problem solved! Craig Nutbrown was spot on. I found that the bars were the wrong way around. That is the thin beveled side was facing front. I reversed the bars so the thick bevel is now at the front and presto, no more noise.

Re: Roof rack cross bar wind noise

Old Thread i know, I just didnt want to start another one for a simple question. So I installed my Mopar roof rack and i cant believe how loud they are. Ive read through this thread and a few others and i will make sure to impleiment what i read. One question that hasn't been answered is, does the longer of the two cross bars go in the front or the back when you install them?

Re: Roof rack cross bar wind noise

Here are pics of my roof rack installed. It's so loud and annoying when I drive my Jeep. Do I have them installed correctly? I have the longer bar installed in the rear.
