Rubbing noise between side of passenger seat and center console

Has anyone else noticed a plasticky sounding rubbing noise between the side of the passenger seat and the side of the center console? I have an Overland, of course with leather, and it seems that if I barely put my finger between the two it stops the noise completely. It took me quite a while to figure out where the noise was coming from because it truly sounded like plastic rubbing on plastic. The driver side seat seems to be spaced over a little farther so I haven't noticed anything there. Moving the seat back or forward in the power adjustments hasn't helped because it hits the console at all settings. I hate the idea of taking it to the dealer because if they have to remove my seat I just know something's going to get scratched or broke. I've got a good dealer but you just don't know my luck I have none.

Are the console side clips clipped into place

I think so because it's rubbing on the leather top against the side of the seat. I don't see anything that's not clipped anywhere.

Re: Rubbing noise between side of passenger seat and center console

Seems to me this was brought up a year or so ago. I think it was resolved with an adjustment.

Re: Rubbing noise between side of passenger seat and center console

On many WK2's, the front seat(s) can rub against the center console. It's just the usual poor Jeep quality control. Some have had luck with placing a shim under the 2 inside mounts to tilt the seat away from the console.

In my case I found an older thread and it seems that the lumbar support was causing the issue by pushing the side of the seat outward . I took all the lumbar support out of the passenger seat and I think I took enough pressure off that it won't rub anymore. Now I should not have to do that, but at least it's fixed. Now my next endeavor is to figure out the clicking noise on the front right corner of the passenger seat. I can feel it in the little bar that runs across the whole front of the seat where it joins the frame. I believe I found some more threads to read up on before I take it to the dealership for a tire rotation and that stupid headliner recall. Thanks everyone for all your help I really appreciate it.

Re: Rubbing noise between side of passenger seat and center console

I have a passenger's side headrest rattle that is only resolved by purposefully moving the seatbelt clip back. But then you hear more plastic on plastic squeaking from the molding. I also have some squeaking coming from the front driver's side suspension (is it the sway bar?) going over some bumps. Annoying crap that shouldn't happen on a $50k+ vehicle.

My issue had nothing to do with the seat belt it was just that silly lumbar adjustment. At first I did think it was the headrest when the noise started. It took me a couple of months (not working very hard at it) to figure it out. I'll just have to remember to take the lumbar support out after a passenger ride with me and uses it.

For all the world I would have swore that it was a plastic on plastic noise. That just shows you how hard it is to find rattles or squeaks in these new vehicles
