Re: Rumbling Noise

Driving habits will surely make a difference. If you are constantly on and off the gas the mds won't kick in. That's not the way I drive.

You'll also likely notice a slight rumble on coast-down, especially from higher gears. In ECO mode MDS loves to be active in that state (though it will do it occasionally in normal mode too).

New tsb is out for 5.7 transmissions. Said to address quality of drive in ECO... Perhaps this wil address the issue...

Not likely. The rumble is going to happen when you're in 4-cylinder operation. You can't avoid it as you can't totally balance out the harmonics in that mode on an 8-cylinder engine. Comes with the territory.

Hopefully it'll address a few other things though.

Maybe it won't go into 4 cyl mode as often. I have an oil change and tire rotation scheduled for Tuesday. I'll see if their system is updated to perform this.

My last couple of cars got one oil change a year. My '11 MDX only got 2 because I traded it just under 3 years. My Jeep is getting it's third this year, because they keep telling me it's time for another free oil change. The tire rotation will be $20, so I can't complain about my first year (March 14 will be a year) service costs.

They generally have a TSB or two to perform when I have the oil changed, so it's never a wasted trip. Plus, I probably will have consumed $20 worth of coffee by the end of Tuesday's visit.

Thanks Jeepman for the info.

I didn't have the tranny problems that some experienced. I found the performance and handling very good. It could take turns at a higher speed than the Jeep. Or at least sitting lower I felt it could.

The fit and finish on mine was not as good as the Jeep. The biggest complaint I had was the noisy cabin. It seemed to have no or little sound insulation.

The Jeep on the other hand, as long as the MDS doesn't kick in, is one of the quietest vehicles I've ever owned. And, with the V8 it has a little more zip which makes it more fun.

I would have kept the MDX a little longer but decided I'd rather surf fish from the beach than fish from a kayak. It had less than 10,000 miles on it.

Re: Rumbling Noise

Two hours at the dealer this morning. I had the oil changed, tires rotated, and asked if they could do TSB 21-004-14.

They did those and performed two other TSBs that I didn't ask for. It turns out that the service writer, instead of indicating the TSB I ask for, wrote "Customer states check for TSBs" The other two were 18-008-14 and 24-002-13. I guess they fixed problems I was unaware of.

The oil change was free and the tire rotation $20. A good service visit.

On the way home, in ECO mode, I went through a 2 mile and a 1/2 mile of 25 MPH speed limits. I set the cruise for 25 and the vehicle shifted to 4th gear, but never went into 5th. This is a big improvement, and I might try eco mode for a while.

The MDS did not kick in. I hope this has to do with the update and not because they disconnected the battery. According to the owners manual, if you disconnect the battery the MDS will take some time before it starts working again. They don't define "some time".

I just noticed that there is a new RRT for the ELSD. They did not do that one, but it is dated tomorrow, so maybe the vin's weren't updated yet. Milous is just too quick.

Billy... How do you like the 5.7 update now that you've had it for a few days.... I'm waiting to do it pending your experience (and others please)

Re: Rumbling Noise

I rejected my newly delivered 2014 Summit today because it ha a loud droning vibration on the driver side and a little forward intermittently though frequent. Is this the noise you are talking about? Can you describe the noise you have a little like where it comes from and when?
