The 8 does have a degree of resonance... Ask to see other 8's on the lot.. All I've come across has the noise..... Read thread.

Re: Rumbling Noise

Yes, it has the hemi. I have never heard a noise like that in any car. My 1997 jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 does not vibrate like that. You are saying that is normal?

Well.. Without hearing your noise I don't know if it's the same as the noise we have... I would bet it is.. I have the noise in idle and driving... Ask them to apply the tsb that just came out for the 5.7... Also, ask them to let u drive a different 5.7 on the lot... Is it normal? I'd bet it is... Is it tolerable? That's your call.

Also. Shut off air conditioner.. Hit the off button it's atop the auto switch. Center knob. Then listen...

Go pickup your summit. Great vehicle. Little oddities bet u will be happy.. The 5.7 is great to drive...

Re: Rumbling Noise

Thanks for the reply. It is more of a vibration but is noisy. I thought maybe it was the front driver side wheel well liners at first. Does this match what you have?

Mine started as a vibration in steering wheel... I'm sure if u have a different noise it can be easily fixed....

It's holding gears a little longer at low speed which is good. But, if you have to hold that low speed for a half mile or more the MDS still kicks in with the rumbling and vibration.

So for me it is back to hit start button followed by eco off until I'm out on the road. It's become second nature, just like putting on the seatbelt'

Also had the TCM TSB done here. I'd say the shifts overall are improved. Less hunting, I also had what I'd call a "chuggle shift" at times which seems to be gone as well as some extra bumps when shifting at low speed (stop and go traffic) which are also gone.

Huge improvement to downshifting when coming to a stop...it no longer feels like it is engine braking at times.
