Run-Stop button trouble
I searched a bit and found a couple items similar but not quite like this in the forums, so I am starting this thread. Sorry if there is one and I missed it.
I'm posting this with hopes that this wont be an issue for anyone else, but it is just a one time thing that happened to me.
2016 WK2 Diesel
I had just returned from getting parts for my 97 XJ and I pulled up to my house, put the vehicle in park, depressed the parking brake and pushed the stop button.
The engine kept running. The radio and dash turned off but the engine did not stop. I pushed the button again, and moved the shift lever back to drive then to park again and pushed the button again. The engine still would not turn off. I tried this sequence a few times and the engine would not turn off.
Luckily it was early on Saturday and the dealership was not far from my house. I took it in. I pulled into the service bay, put the vehicle in park, put the parking brake on, pushed the button and got out to talk to the service rep. I explained what happened and that I had pushed the button before getting out to talk with them. That is when the engine finally stopped running.
After looking at it a while they determined to replace the button, which of course is on back order. So I am having to wait a week or so to get my car back.
I will update with more info as it comes in, but I thought I would start this thread in case anyone else has the same issue.
