Rusting Door Nuts (?!)

OK, call me a detailing freak, but I just discovered the nuts holding my doors to the hinges are starting to rust. The vehicle is an early ’11 GC Laredo with the X package in Bright Silver. Has anyone else noticed this? It appears the nuts and hinges have (had?) a light coat of paint on them from when the vehicle was sprayed on the production line. I’m thinking of replacing them with stainless to prevent the rust from (eventually) staining the paint.

On a related note, when I attempted to rotate the tires for the first time last years I could barely get the rims off the Jeep as the rotors were rusted to them. Everywhere I look I find more rust. What kind of crap iron/steel is being used nowadays? Yeah, I know, I already saw the thread on parts made in China……

Thanks.

Don't replace the bolts. I would shoot a coat of Rustoleum "rust-reformer", then a shot of silver to match your paint and finish off with a coat of clear coat. Removing the factory bolts is just inviting problems. Silver is one of the toughest colors to paint properly for total coverage. Although it sounds like yours just got a light coating in that area at the factory. Best luck.
