Yeah, it'll end up being another mysterious rattle to go nuts over trying to find.

P14/NHTSA 14V-154 (Brake Booster)

2013 Durango R/T went in for the recall check on 7/25/2014. While the service dept. was checking for the problem, I'm told the master cylinder is now leaking. My Durango is now sitting idle in the dealer lot and I'm stuck in a crappy rental. The part is on back-order. It might be here by 8/12/2014.

I have opened a case with Chrysler and awaiting a call back from a case manager.

Curious as to how others are handling not having your vehicle while it sits at the dealer lot waiting for a part?

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Everyone getting this done and commenting please tell us if you just got the shield or needed a brake booster as well and let us know if the brake booster was damaged before they tried to put the shield on or if you needed a new one when they took it apart to put the shield on. I am still holding back, my AZ jeep is running just the way I wanted it right now.

Thanks.

Polls results at 65% success out of 17 total.

Mine was in and out in a day. Taken in Tuesday afternoon after work to work on Wednesday morning they called me in the afternoon said was done. Since I drive my summer car during the summer today was the first day I decided to drive it after picking it up. No problems with mine. Did feel that the pedal was pretty firm at start up but that could be just me used to my other car.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Well I had the shield installed today, seem to be without issue except I thought they missed putting back a plastic tab bolt into the plastic shroud above the booster because there was a hole there. The tech said it was a drain weep hole to the service writer when I sent him back there. The service writer also told me the techs have figured out how to get the shield on without disconnecting the two brake lines, some how they get the booster off the firewall and slip it on from the back, not sure if this is true but that is what he told me. The brake pedal felt fine and the vehicle braked evenly so I am happy.

I didn't think the recall instructions called for disconnecting the brake lines. I hate when I hear that the techs 'figured out' a way, rather than following the steps the manufacturer provides.

Had mine done today. They called and said master cylinder is now leaking. The service lead said no way to tell what happened but implied it wasn't leaking before. I'm in loaner as well for who knows how long.

On the plus side, they were very nice about it. If it wasn't leaking before..... Ouch...... If it was, I guess good they found it.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I am in Rochester, NY, so a serious snow belt as we had almost 140" in less than 14 weeks last year. I took my jeep in and fairly quickly they said that the booster didn't have any corrosion so they ordered a shield. I haven't heard from them in well over 2 months. Marina Jeep in Webster, NY. I hope they figure it out before the cold and snow set in. I don't drive it very much, but when I do its on long trips to Charleston, SC or Florida.

This dealer is notorious for a horrible sales side, but I am hoping their service is better. They quick lane people always seem very efficient. Cortese and Marina have the worst reputation in our area, and many people will drive to another city to buy a Jeep new. I bought one used, but the dealership, it was purchased from ROC City Jeep has closed its doors. I wish I had taken the WK2 to Genessee Valley Jeep in the Finger Lakes. They have a much better reputation. You have to think if the parts guys, and sales side is bad, then how can a good technician/mechanic be happy working for them. Highest turnover in staffing, but I don't know about tech/service personnel. Luckily my FIL is a GM trained mechanic, but easily works on all cars. Unfortunately he sold his shop almost 6 years ago and delivers parts to pay for insurance. Just driveway fixes these days, though he knows most of the people in the area. I am hoping this Jeep doesn't turnout to be a nightmare. I like it a lot and only one more year of service coverage under the service contract. Have used it twice in 12 months, so well worth it.

Took mine in for an oil change and the recall in July. Said they would call when the part was in. RSN.

Hey reggier.

So they gave me an avenger loaner. It's not terrible. And the dealer rep was pretty straightforward with me and said they've done about 50 of these and this was the second master cylinder leak. And he thought it was probably them but no way to really tell. So huge points on the amount of honesty I'm getting out of him.

I'll probably chalk it up to "these things happen" category and they are doing their best. But I'll reassess on Monday when I figure out how long the part for the jeep is on back order. Plus, I'm always wary of scratches on interior and exterior when I get the car back after having it gone for so long. And I dropped by today and it was pretty taken apart. If it ends up taking forever to get the part I'll call Chrysler and let u know what they do.

Brian

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Tiny thing but typical American car dealer. Took mine in last month, they did the recall in three hours, when they gave me the Jeep back and I looked under the hood, around a dozen deep scratches right inline with where you'd hold a ratchet with an extension in the well. All through the paint, bare metal shining.. I keep my engine bay as clean as the rest of the Jeep so I was pissed. Not in an easy place to paint, they did an ok job, I'm still not pleased. I never expect or ask for my Jeep to come back clean, I almost encourage people not to worry about greasy fingerprints etc. I'd rather clean it than have degreaser sprayed at random.. every piece of metal I can touch is sealed. But undamaged is a must, no scratches, torn fabrics, or dents. Hurried minds and hands cause damage with tools. Pissed me off.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Had them take care of this with some other issues and since it was late yesterday when I picked up the vehicle, I didn't have time to look over their work. I opened the hood this morning and see they left a ratchet extension by the hood latch and broke the passenger side washer fluid hose. So pissed off at the way the dealer handled my repairs. They didn't communicate any status with me while the vehicle was there and finding the advisor responsible for my vehicle was near impossible every time I called. I'm heading to the store near them and plan to drop by to discuss these issues as well as find out exactly when they plan to replace my orc module.
