Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Picked mine up yesterday after having an alignment/ rotation and the recall looked into. They said my GC was not affected by the recall. I was under the impression ALL 2011-3013 were.
I'll peek under the hood once I get in the garage to see if there is already a shield, but does anyone know how to tell if a unit is not affected by the recall if there is not a shield?

So I got my jeep back today. Everything looks good. Replacement part came in yesterday. Service rep was very responsive through the whole process. Overall, besides the master cylinder issue, everything worked out. And the dealer service department handled it very well.

On the plus side, they were very nice about it. If it wasn't leaking before..... Ouch...... If it was, I guess good they found it.

Step 1

"CAUTION: Vacuum in brake booster must be pumped down before removing the master cylinder from the brake booster. This is necessary to prevent the master cylinder primary piston from being pulled out of the master cylinder as the master cylinder is separated from the brake booster. This can be done by pumping brake pedal, with vehicle engine not running and the ignition OFF, until a firm feeling brake pedal is achieved."

Checked it last night. There is no shield in place. Are some vehicles not a part of the recall even for the years listed?

Mine was broken during recall repair. That was 44 days ago. Still waiting...

Has anyone else been waiting this long?

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

So far, it appears there's only a 50% successful repair rate on this recall.

That's pretty pathetic and it doesn't make me want to be in any hurry to get this done.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

My advice...wait if you aren't in a salt state or having brake issues. If I had known the risk, I would have declined it. Now I'm stuck in a loaner minivan for who knows how long.

Yeah, I'm going to. I've already inspected the booster and I have no visible corrosion. Good pedal on the brakes as well. I'm not in any hurry to create a problem where one currently doesn't exist.

Sorry that you've been stuck in that minivan for so long.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I'm going for an oil change tomorrow. I mentioned a couple of TSBs I want done, no problem. The service advisor then told me there was a recall on the brake booster, but they don't have the parts. He was taken back when I said, "that works for me".
