Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

My local dealer parts guru tells me that there will be a newer (different/better?) brake booster shield that Chrysler will be introducing to complete this safety recall. Should be available soon, whatever that means!

This may be why the original B/B recall kits have been backordered/unavailable for a while!

Based upon the experiences I have read here that some have had with this, hopefully the new shield can only go on one way - the correct way!

Glad it rarely gets below freezing here. I can wait this out.

I am not happy with the job they performed on the install and think this answers how they were able to perform the recall and other various things in less then two hours of work. Also if the work was done wrong/poorly the first time do I dare have them try to fix this after having read stories from other owners of brakes not working/dings/scratches after the work is done ? I already found a small paint chip/ding on the front drivers fender afterwards but I am not 100% positive the dealership did it since I didn't go over my vehicle before dropping off as thoroughly as I usually do.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I am amazed that a 2014 gets a booster before an older WK2. I am on 3 months wait and I live in a road salt state. Chrysler should work oldest to newest models and north to south to get these done. This is BS.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Mine's going in tomorrow for an oil change and some TSB updates. I talked to my service advisor about the brake booster recall. He told me that they've done quite a number of them, that they've never encountered the master cylinder issues reported here on the forum and that they keep the shield kits on hand.

So for better or worse it looks like I'll be getting that done along with the other stuff. I definitely said "no way" to the visor vanity mirror wiring recall though.

Delaware may use salt, but they are nowhere near the snow belt.

I'd guess they are supplying them to dealers based, at least to some degree, by the number of units sold.

Of course we do live in a me first society.

Along with that Bill, my understanding now after talking to the dealer is that the number of kits they get and how fast they get them also depends on how many they do and how fast they file the paperwork with Chrysler for the recall repairs they've done.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I wasn't planning to but I had the brake booster shield installed today.

Appears to be properly installed with no parts loose or missing.
Clean... no spills, no greasy smudges and no scratches left in the paint.
Brakes work fine.

Service advisor told me they've done a couple hundred of these already. I guess they have it down to a fine art. We'll see how things go after I drive it for a while, then I'll vote in the poll.

I was talking to the manager when I went in to schedule service for an oil change and some software updates. I've known him for years... a really decent guy. He seriously asked me if I wanted them to get me a new vehicle. I was flabbergasted by that but I told him no, I like the one I have.

There's a thread on the visor vanity mirror recall. I'm not aware of anyone out here that's planning to have that one done.
