Yeah, I took the printed out TSB with me. They couldn't explain why their work didn't match the picture in the TSB.

I'll either speak with the service manager next week or just fix it myself.

Hey Raptor, did you use the existing adhesive on the tabs or did you use something else once you moved the sleeve?

I get it,the tabs are not in the same position, but the crimp joints are still covered the same in both pics with the shield.

I fully expected my shield to be installed wrong. The dealers around here mostly suck!!...... Knowing this I cleaned & degreased my booster real good before I brought it in, so I could reposition the sticky tabs if I needed too. I also removed the windshield wipers so I could remove the windshield cowling, so if I had to.......Actually I fully expected to, I could peel back the tabs and position the shield further back as spec'd by Chrysler in the P14 recall instructions.
It would have been near impossible to get at the 9 o'clock tab, peel it up carefully, push back the shield and "re-stick" the tab if the windshield cowling was in place. The tab in the 3 o'clock position was very easy to get at and reposition after I peeled it up and slid the shield back to the firewall with a twisting motion.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I sent a link to this thread to NHTSA and this is the substance of their reply: "Based on your request, you may wish to contact the Federal Trade Commission which handles inquires on automobile warranties and problems with dealers. Their number is 202-326-2222 or toll free at 877-382-4357."

I have no idea why they want to do this the bard way. Just cut the ring, put it in place with the cut on the bottom or side, and seal the cut with silicone caulk (or a piece of soft sticky tape could be supplied with the ring). It would be easy and fast. It is downright silly to disconnect brake lines, or otherwise disassemble anything just to install this ring.

Do you think the length of the tab folded over will make a big difference in it's fix?

The longer the folded piece, the bigger the gap between the firewall and the shield.

I go to my jeep dealer where they installed it,they say it's OK. I go to the local Dodge dealer and the mechanic recognizes the problem right away and fixes it. I'm going to Dodge for all my repairs.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

Just looked at mine, the tabs are folded over the front I'm pissed, I also noticed one of the plastic tabs broken on the piece that holds the brake lines down, maybe that's why I've been recently noticing and annoying interior resonance when the car is idling in gear (all that foam has to be there for a reason right )

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I just finished repositioning the brake booster cover myself. The adhesive on the tabs was sacrificed (I went slow, but it didn't matter), so I went ahead and put down a nice bead of clear silicone caulk from the 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock position.

Thanks again for the heads-up, Raptor.

Oh, and I discovered a plastic tab they had broken, so I fixed that with a stray screw.

Re: Safety Recall P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 Brake Booster Success Poll

I pulled up my tabs and was able to push at least the top and sides all the way back to the firewall, but I couldn't get the bottom of the shield all the way back.

I used a slow/gentle clockwise then counterclockwise twisting motion to get my shield all the way back to the firewall and then re-stuck the adhesive tabs in place in the 3 & 9 o-clock positions.
